Yes, there were war crimes committed against Confederates, Sherman's March to the Sea was rife with them, as was reported by a war correspondent who travelled with Sherman's army, there was a case where women and children were locked in a burning building and left to burn alive. In New Orleans in 1862 Union soldiers raped black women and the commander cast women and children out of their homes and turned them into barracks for his officers. A Union commander called Edward "Needles" Hallowell had Confederate POWs used as human shields against the Confederate cannons, which is a completely indefensible war crime. Confederate POWs were starved and tortured in prison camps, in one camp POWs were forced to ride the "Morgan's Mule", a form of "Spanish Donkey" for the slightest breaking of the rules, sometimes for days with weights attached the feet until they fell off with exhaustion and pain, few could walk after such torture, torturing POWs is a war crime.
