Chapter 3- The New Kid

JANELY'S POV

I was running around, playing with Hiro and Sora. We were chasing each other around as we didn't know what else to do. I looked to my left and saw Kai playing by himself, so, I ran up to Sora and Hiro and said "The new kid's by himself, maybe we should talk to him and invite him to hang with us." Hiro walked over to the new kid and I decided to follow while Sora went to go get us a basketball to play with. Kai looked at them and waved. I waved back and Hiro spoke "Sup. I'm Hiro." Kai tilted his head. Hiro looked at me "I don't think he speaks English." I looked at Kai and said in Korean "Hi, I'm Janely. This is Hiro." Kai laughed a little and said in English "I speak English, I was messing with you guys. Your korean is really good though." I smiled and said "Yeah, I'm pretty mixed." "Really? I'm mixed with American, Korean, Brazilian, German, Polish, and Scottish." I gasped and said "Really? Wow, dang." He nodded his head and said "I speak English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Portuguese." My jaw dropped "You are one smart kid then!" He laughed a little and nodded his head. "What about you?" I responded "Puerto Rican, Dominican, Korean, and American." Kai smiled and said "You're really pretty! I bet you know a lot of languages!" I laughed a little and responded "English, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese." He gasped and said "That's a lot! Like me!" I nodded my head while smiling.

HIRO'S POV

I smirked as they were communicating with each other. Yes, I'm her best friend but, I'm in a relationship, and she's just the single best friend. She needs someone and I hope Kai can be that person. She's pretty lonely, and it's not like I can't always be there for her, I can be, but I'm growing up and so is she. I have Sora, and my family, she has her own family and I'm hoping she can add Kai to her list of people she loves instead of her crush list. Trust me, we don't want another crush on that list, I cannot handle hearing her talk about another hot Asian man that doesn't know about her existence. At least she has a pretty attractive Asian kid that actually knows about her. Let's hope this goes according to plan.

Sora came up to me and passed the basketball. "Come on, let's play with the new kid." I patted his head and said "Ayo, they're talking." Sora smiled at me and said "Really? Aww...that's a good thing, right? She needs someone." I nodded my head and said "Yeah, it's an amazing thing. I'm just hoping highschool doesn't fuck this up. You know how girls are when they see a new kid, especially if he's a foreign attractive kid." Sora sighs and says "Yeah, I get it. I saw all those girls looking at him. They just wanted to pounce on him and mark their territory. I swear, I thought it was going to be a cat fight in the gym, AND on the first day of school. Teachers would have already been giving out detention slips." I nodded my head and said "Yeah. But let's try and focus on blocking out all those girls, and get them together. I don't wanna hear another rant about a kpop idol that doesn't know about her existence." Sora laughs and so did I.

KAI'S POV

As I was playing with Janely, I saw how cute she was. I liked hanging out with her. She was petite, and very polite. I thought everyone here would be rude to me, but so far, everyone was nice and I liked the teachers. The girls were extra nice to me for some reason, which was weird, this has never happened to me before, but I'll take it as kindness. Janely came up to me and said "Kai, the ball is stuck on the net again. I'm too short to get it." She pouted and I chuckled "I'll get it for you." I walked to the net and jumped up smacking it, which made the ball fall down and I picked it up, passing it to Janely. She ran to the net and went back to trying to get some points. Her and Hiro were in a basketball shooting race, and she wanted to win very badly. So far, Hiro has 12 points, and Janely has 10. I sat down by the walls watching them play. She's pretty cute...

This girl walked up to me and sat beside me. She said hi and I said hi back and went back to focusing on Janely. "What you looking at?" I said "My friend, Janely." "Oh! Janely! I'm friends with her. My name's Katniss by the way." I looked at Katniss and said "Nice to meet you, Katniss. I'm Kai." I smiled and said "Nice name. It's unique, you don't hear that name every day." I said "Yeah, I guess it is."

JANELY'S POV

I saw Kai talking with Katniss. Shouldnt be much of a problem to worry about, right? I don't like it when other girls are my crushes, kpop idols are one thing but this is a crush that knows about my existence. Katniss was a girl that I was friends with, one of the only girls I was friends with, she was cool and I felt comfortable when the teachers paired me up with her. But, I wasn't expecting her to take interest in Kai. She's my friend, if I just talked with her, she would back off, right? New kid and captain of the cheer squad shouldn't be much of a problem right? That's not a good combination for a couple, right? Gosh, I'm overthinking again...
