"Emiko! I knew you'd show up!" Yelled Hinata happily as he noticed Emiko walking in from the other side of the gym. Emiko looked at him and smiled widely, causing him to smile back. "Hello everyone!" Emiko yelled to the gym.
"Hello!" Yelled the other volley ball players back. All except one, who rolled his eyes when Emiko gave smiles to everyone but him. "Maybe if you smiled first, she'd smile back at you?" Yamaguchi said as he sent a wave to Emiko who sent one right back with her cheery smiles. "Do you really think a care about that?" Tsukishima replied. "I think you..." Yamaguchi said quietly.
"The Ogi Nishi High School will arrive at 4:30!" Kiyoko informed the team as she walked in. "Right!" Yelled the team in response. Emiko quickly walked towards Kiyoko, waiting for instruction. "Oh Emiko, could you line up some chairs on the side of the court?" Kiyoko asked with a beautiful smile. Emiko's face warmed slightly at the sight of the goddess but she nodded and gave a thumbs up.
As Emiko ran to gather the folding chairs, she happened to stumble a little and almost fell over . Luckily a tall pole just so happened to be walking by from talking with Coach Ukai. Oh wait no it was Tsukishima. Emiko sighed in relief as he managed to prop her and the chairs back up.
"Oh, tha-" "You're so fucking clumsy, shortcake," he hissed. Emiko blinked once and then twice. "I'm going to ignore that comment simply because you saved my life and my image," she said as she began walking back towards the court to place the chairs down. "And I'm not even that short!" She yelled back. "Please, I could probably step on you if I wanted," Tsukishima said as he began walking in the same direction as Emiko.
"You're just freakishly tall you flipping Beanstalk! And stop following me!" Tsukishima's eyes twitched at the nickname but he decided to ignore it, "I'm not following you you dimwit, look ahead."
"Hmm?" Emiko hummed, she looked ahead and noticed that the team had already arrived. "Oh, crust!" She yelled and quickly placed out the chairs.
"Did she just say "Oh crust?"", Tsukishima thought. He let out a small snicker, cut- Tsukishima's eyes widened. He was not about to just call the baker girl cute- He quickly ran his hands down his face to get rid of those nasty thoughts. "Uh Tsukishima, we have to line up!" Yamaguchi yelled to his friend. Tsukishima nodded and walked towards the the line up.
Emiko stood out awkwardly not knowing what to do but luckily Kiyoko told her that she should join the line up, "Oh okay!" Emiko smiled and quickly made her way towards the line up as well.
Unluckily, she ended up standing next to the beanstalk who nudged her a bit. Emiko almost let out a growl but she composed herself just in time for Daichi to yell out, "Alright guys!" Emiko watched as the team bowed, she did the same, "Thank you for the game!"
After a few minutes of spiking, warming up and Emiko running around to capture the stray balls, Daich let the team know that it was time to suit up.
"Suit up?" She asked herself. Her question was shortly answered when the boys began striping their shirts! Emiko's blood rushed towards her face as her eyes laid upon the shirtless torsos of the Karasuno's volleyball team. Sure she's only ever saw them as friends but you couldn't deny that they were an attractive bunch.
Alas she only had a small peak when suddenly a pair of hands that were not her owns shielded her eyes.
"Pervert," the salty voice whispered as he turned Emiko around, away from the rest of the boys who were making fun of Hinata for putting in his uniform backwards and towards him and only him. "Pervert? Me? Please, they began taking off their shirts without warning!" Emiko stated in her defense. "Just sounds like an excuse to me, shortcake," Tsukishima responded. He began to remove his hands but Emiko quickly and firmly grabbed his hands and held them over her eyes.
"For the love of all things sweet, please do not remove your hands if you yourself are not fully dressed," Emiko begged. Tsukishima irritably removed his hands and watched as Emiko carefully peeled one eye open. After making sure he was dressed in his volleyball uniform she sighed in relief, "Ok good, I didn't need to see any more of you then I've already have." "Whatever, shortcake," Tsukishima growled in response.
"WhAtEvEr ShOrtCa-" "Hey Emiko!" Tanaka yelled as he confidently walked towards her with a huge smile on his face. Emiko was about to respond when she noticed that he himself was not wearing a shirt. Once again her face grew hot and she became flustered, "Aw no need to marvel in my greatness," Tanaka smirked as he flexed a little. Emiko jumped and began looking away but she was quickly blinded by a sudden black fabric that was tossed over her head. "Waaa!" Emiko yelped she peeled off the fabric which she could now tell was a Karasuno volleyball jacket.
She looked back at Tsukishima who was frowning with a hint of tinted cheeks and then turned back to Tanaka who was now wearing his shirt. Emiko and Tanaka both blinked in surprise, "Uhhh..." they both said. "Tanaka, wasn't there something you wanted to say to Emiko?" Tsukishima said with a strange, calm voice. He tried to ignore the weird feeling inside his chest.
"Oh yeah! Kiyoko wanted me to tell you if you could meet up with her outside real quick before the game starts, something about going over some basic rules?" Tanaka said. "Oh alright! Thank you!" Emiko said as she rushed towards the gym doors, jacket in hand.
"Tsuki-poooo! I noticed the way you protected little Emiko from my perfectness," Tanaka teased. "Pardon?" The tall blondes faced morphed to one of confusion and a hint of disgust. "Don't think we can't see the way you look at our manager," Tanaka smirked causing Tsukishima to slowly walk away from the craziness.
Idiots, idiots everywhere... he thought until he caught a glimpse of Emiko ruffling Hinata's hair as a sign of encouragement. Tsukishima felt his lips begin to frown and his eyes begin to glare.
He couldn't control whatever urges overcame him and suddenly he heard himself yell out, "Hey, shortcake!"
Emiko and Hinata both jumped a little and turned to the owner of the voice. Tsukishima's eyes widened when he realized he had drawn the eyes of half of the gym.
"Errr, yes?" Emiko asked with slightly startled eyes.
Tsukishima glanced at her before frowning and letting a small "never mind" pass his lips. Luckily he was saved by the coaches blowing a whistle to signal the beginning of the practice match. Tsukishima watched from the corner of his eye as Kiyoko grabbed Emiko and walked her to the score board.
"Tsukki? What was that about?" The freckled pinch server asked as he walked up to his best friend. Tsukishima angrily looked at him, "I don't know what your talking about." Yamaguchi raised in eyebrow by his friends strange behavior and then remembered something very important, "Well whatever it is you may want to resolve it soon, otherwise it's going to be very awkward when we go to Emiko's cafe."
"Who said I'm going." Yamaguchi pouted before he decided to try something, "Well alright, I'm sure Emiko won't mind if it's just me, Kageyama and Hinata tagging along..." Yamaguchi stated while walking out of the volleyball court. Tsukishima's eyes widened slightly and he turned to find Emiko who was giving a thumbs up to first year setter and a high five to the middle blocker. Once again the overpowering feeling to get her attention away from them returned...

The sound of a warm bell rang through the welcoming cafe. "Mom! I'm home!" Emiko yelled into the cafe, the four volleyball boys following behind her. "Welcome home sweet heart, did you bring by those friends of yours?" Emiko's mother said back from the inside of their kitchen. Emiko turned to the four pairs of eyes that were on her. One of them was a pair of golden eyes holding a disinterested look. "Uh yeah I brought home three friends and a mugger."
"Wait what?" "Did you say mugger?!" "Hehe mugger."
