My Secret Love

Chapter 1

  I wake up in the morning to the sound of Jurassic Park Journey to the Island on my phone. It's my alarm and my ringtone. I have to get up and head over to the airport.  My parents passed away in a car crash and so I'm left with living with my older brother Jeremy as he is the only family member I have. Mom and Dad were both only child so I have no aunts, uncles, cousins and both grandparents are died before Iwas born.
 
   I get up from my bed and do my bathroom routine one last time in this small appartment we lived in. I just wash my face, brush my teeth then put on my clothes since I just slept in my plain black shirt and  black underwear,  not wanting to open up my suitcase again, all I have to do is put my black pants, Grogu socks and black and white converse on. I don't wear makeup as I don't know how to put it on. I just braided my long dark brown hair to the side.

    I look at my room one last time, seeing it all empty with just my old bed in the middle of the room. I said goodbye mentally then walked to the front door, grabbed my luggage and went to the front office to turn in my keys.

   It was right across from the appartment. I walked in and met Elizabeth.  She gave me a sad smile. She was a great manager here in the Rosemary Appartments and I know I will miss her. I hand her the keys and she came around her desk to give me a goodbye hug. She bends down a little bit as I'm 5'3 she is 5'6.

  Her big brown eyes start to tear up as she tells me, "I'm so sorry for your loss. Your parents were amazing people. I'm glad to see you grow up from when you were just a baby. Please come back and visit any time." I give her a smile as we let go of each  other.  "Thank you Elizabeth for everything you have done for me and my family and I will surely miss you. And of course I'll come back and visit someday." We said our goodbye and I went in the cab that waited for me outside the main office. Well California here I come. I'm sure gonna miss living in Florida.

  I said goodbye to my one and only bestfriend Ryder last night. He still had to go to school today so he came by last night. We played cards listening to oldies one last time in the apartment. I'm sure gonna miss spending time with him. He was the only person who would be nice to me. All other kids growing up from elementary till beginning of senior year in high school would pick on me. But Ryder would always protect me. He was my adopted brother.  Since my real brother left to college 2 years ago Ryder felt like he had to take the "Big brother role". He's only older then me by a month.

The cab guy dropped me off at the airport. I grabbed my luggage and started going to the line where they check and put your luggage on the plane. I walk on the plane and thanked God that no one sat next to me and I was by the window. I like looking out the window and seeing how tiny everything is from up in the sky. I've only been on a plane once to go to Disneyland in Cali.

  I put on my headphones and listen to Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun new song Flames. I really love this song. I wonder what it will be like living with my brother in Cali. Wonder what school would be like. I'm not the social type. I like to keep to myself mostly and read. Like I said Ryder was my only friend I had.  I miss him so much. I sent him a text. 

  Katerina: I miss you so much already!!! 😭

  Ryder: I miss you so much too!!! 😭 Just come back and stay with me.

  Katerina: If only I could I would! 🙁

  Ryder: I know. Tell your brother I said hi. Let me know when he gets you so I know you made it safe. Love you

  Katerina: Love you too! To infinity and beyond!

  Ryder: To infinity and beyond!

I put my phone back in my pocket as we are getting ready to land. I'm super excited to see my big brother.  I haven't seen him since he left to college. He couldn't make the funeral so we video chat him the whole time. I sure miss the heck out of my parents.
