Chapter 31 || A First Time Ball

"You seem very excited" said Max with his arms crossed and body leaned against my office wall,

"You call it excitement, I call it being nervous"I say, as I paced around my office,

"You should seriously consider calming down a little" He rolled his eyes to the back of this head, he said it as if it was easy,

"You don't understand, its been almost nine months since she left with Alaska for training in the mountains, and we didn't leave on a good note either, .... she was so angry. What If she still hasn't forgiven me?" I stop midway from my pace around the room and looked him straight in he eye for his answer,

"By the Gods!. You love her, don't you!?"he said, seating himself down on a couch in the corner of the room, I stare at him blankly,

"That I don't have an answer to yet, but what I do have an answer to, is that she is my best friend, and I don't want my friend to be upset with me" I reply and go back to pacing around the room, there was a slight silence between us both before he said something that made me stop right in my tracks,

"That's something you would say to me, when Ava would get mad at you"

I turn to look at him, I see him fidgeting with his nails, with a small, sad smile on his face,

"And remember when we all use to play fight as kids.... she would always tackle you to the ground" he laughed, and met my gaze,

"Yeah, I remember" I am remembered of the past,

We both go quite again, in respects for the dead, after a moment past a knock was heard at the door to my office, followed by it opening and revealing a member of my pack,

"The Delta and Future Luna have arrived"

Me and max looked at each other, "You better not mention what we talked about, with them" I instruct, and he nods before we rushed out the room.

Coming down a large set of stairs that lead to the main door of the pack house, I see a figure holding two suitcases, the figure eyes land on me and a smile tugs on her lips,

"Nice to see you two asswipes again" she exclaimed, finally coming down the last few steps of stairs I ask, "Where's Catrina?"

"She went up to her room just a few minutes before you two showed up, but don't worry you'll see her tonight in the party"she said putting her hands on her hips , "I.... um.... hope the training went well" I ask awkwardly,

Alaska sighed , and put her hand on my shoulder, "If your going to try and impress her, you need to drop that nerves vibe a little" she said and grabbed the two suitcases and made her way up to her room,

The sounds of people chatting and glasses clanking could be heard from outside the ballroom, I hide behind the one closed huge ballroom door, waiting for Catrina to come down since we were to make an entry together, I kept peeking inside the ballroom, to see if Catrina accidentally went in without me,

Hopefully Alaska explained to her about the ceremony,

I peeked again from behind the door making sure no one saw me, I looked at everyone's faces carefully making sure non of them was my future Luna,

"Looking for someone?"

A feminine voice startles me and I look to my side,

Catrina leaned against the door with her arms crossed and a smile on her face, "Did I startle you?" She asked not losing her charming smile,

Her hair was beautifully curled away from her face, and a long shimmery golden dress hugged her body highlighting her curves then flowing down to the bottom with a slit that exposed her bear leg,

Definitely gonna give my delta a raise after this,

She chuckled, I looked up realizing I was staring at her for a bit too long,

"Did my presences leave you in awe?" She asked flashing her pearly whites at me,

"I-its just been so long since we last saw each other, and- and you look beautiful"I said in loss of words, the smile on her face just grew bigger,

"Why thank you, you your self look very handsome tonight" she complimented, i Look down to my black suit and tie, "It's pretty simple" I comment, and look back up at her, she stepped a little closer, lightly tilting her head up to look at me throw those beautiful curled lashes, "I like simple" she whispered,

"Now, I would like to welcome the Alpha, and his new Luna" Maxes voice was heard, "That our queue" I say and offer my arm, and without hesitation she hooked her arm with main.

We both walk in the ballroom, everyone clearly is overjoyed at the news of a new Luna, she immediately starts to mingle in the crowd, and starts to make conversation real fast,

My pack members, that were once terrified to come up to me, now we're coming up to me and making conversation, I few minutes goes by and everyone at this point is dancing with
a partner in the middle of the ballroom, even Max and Alaska found someone to dance with,

I stood away from the crowd and watched them dance, "This is the first ever ball I've ever been too" Catrina comments, I see her standing beside me looking at the crowd as well, i offer her my hand, " Wanna dance?"

She looks at me, and looks at my hand before smiling and slipping her hand in main,

"Of course" she reply,

I could feel my wolf jump with excitement at the contact of our mate,

I take her to the middle of the dance floor, a few faces turn to look at us, once we are in the middle, I rest my hand on her waist, hers rested on my shoulder and other in my hand, the music was slow, it was kinda getting little awkward,

"I hope your not still mad at me" I say, she looks at me and her brows knit together, "About?" She asked,

"You know... the hole biting and turning you into a wolf" I explained, her eyes widened with realization and then chuckled, not knowing what to say, I decided to apologize,

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have bit you with out your permission, I wasn't even thinking in that time-"

"No" Catrina cut me off, " I should be the one saying sorry, I lashed out on you without thinking, but now I understand ..... if I were in your place, I would've done the same, you saved my life, and I'm forever great full for that" she says sincerely,

I smile at her, and she smiles back, the ocean in her eyes were wild and free, crashing into every wave, it was different from when I first met her, back then her ocean was forcibly tamed, and caged, in a second her blue eyes turned to an amber red color, main probably was doing the same, showing that we were mates to all the suspicious older pack members, my heart started beating fast, every sense was heightened,

But then she blinked and started looking around, her amber eyes went back to blue, and I could sense my eyes went to normal as well, she stopped dancing and kept looking around,

"Do you know what time it is?" She asked, I look at the watch on my wrist and answer,"10:04"

She takes a deep breath, " if you'll excuse me, I have to use the bathroom"she says,

I nod and see her leave the ball room,
