Note: This is loosely based off of the film/book. I don't even know which :) I haven't read, or watched it. I actually have only seen the trailer, so I don't even know if this is really based off of the plot. This is just the plot that I've picked up from watching the trailer. I was inspired by that much-too-sexy version of "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé in the trailer. Gahh *heart eyes*. I couldn't help but make a Spoby story! I hope you enjoy. Thank you!

Staring at herself in the mirror, Spencer ran her hands down her body. She didn't have the most 'womanly' body, in her opinion. Her roommate, Hanna Marin, was gorgeous, the brunette thought. Hanna had all the right curves, in all the right places. A nice butt, a nice set of breasts. She could be a sex icon if she wanted to. Spencer wanted that kind of body. The body that she could flaunt to others, as shallow as it sounded. She wanted to feel that a man she was with found her sexy. She never felt that way.
"Hey there, sweetie," Hanna greeted, taking her ponytail out, and letting her wavy blonde hair flow freely. "Are you all prepped up for your big interview tomorrow morning? Cavanaugh Industries. Damn, you're lucky. I mean, I love my design studio, but if I could work at that rich-ass company, I would."
Spencer stepped away from the mirror, and replied by saying, "No, I'm not lucky. I'm jobless and broke. I don't even know why I bother interviewing for this big of a company. They probably want an employee with more experience. I barely have any. I'm taking too big of a shot. I'm trying to jump from zero to a hundred. I should have picked an interview for some pesky unknown company that would hire a piece of crap off of the streets."
"You go big or go home, honey," Hanna said, laughing quietly. "You've got skill, Spencer. You've been a genius since you were born, and you just have to let the boss man know that about you. Plus, I've heard that Mr. Cavanaugh is quite the looker. Maybe seduction is key."
"You think I should bribe my way with my body into getting the job?" Spencer spat. "That's pathetic. Besides, he wouldn't go for a body like mine. He probably wants an exotic, gorgeous woman. A different one every night. I've heard of men like him. He's a young entrepreneur."
"Stop doubting yourself. You won't even have to use your obvious beauty to win this job over. All you need is your big brain," Hanna encouraged with a large grin. "We all knew you were going to succeed someday. You could recite all the digits of pi when you were like eight. Knock them dead, Spencer. Show the world who this girl is."
Spencer tried to take Hanna's words to heart, but it was hard to listen when the blonde had everything figured out in her life. Besides being single and unmarried, Hanna had everything. She had a good job at a fashion design studio, and she was practically paying the rent for their loft. Spencer was broke. Hanna went out and found new guys on bar crawls. She would come home with a man, then leave them smitten. How many of Spencer's past boyfriends had broken up with her because they were attracted to Hanna? Luckily, Hanna was too good of a friend to make any sort of move on her boyfriends. All in all, Spencer knew she wasn't getting a job at a big-name company like Cavanaugh's.

"Welcome to Cavanaugh Industries. Do you have an appointment?" the woman at the front desk, name card reading Linda Meyers, asked.
The brunette nodded her head, taking out an identification card-her driver's license-and sliding it over to the woman.
"Spencer Hastings," she introduced herself. "I have a 10:00 AM appointment with Mr. Cavanaugh. A job interview. Is that written down? Scheduled?"
"Seems so," the woman said, nodding her head. "Your interview is all scheduled and ready. Mr. Cavanaugh should be upstairs, or back soon. You can wait upstairs in his office. He usually goes on coffee runs in the morning." Linda Meyers scanned her driver's license. "You're all set. I checked you in for your interview. By the way, good luck. It's floor 8, by the way. That's where his office is."
Spencer smiled, thanked her, and made her way to the elevator. She pressed the '8' button, patiently waiting as the elevator rode upwards to that floor. Exiting, she took a glance around the grand office. She couldn't believe someone was lucky enough to work here. She suddenly got nervous when she realized that SHE could be working at this grand company, if she played her cards right at this very moment. She had to make the interview go well. That was her only shot. She was nervous because she realized that this was the moment that would determine if she got to work at this big-name company.
She sat down across from his empty chair. He wasn't in the room, Linda Meyers was right. He must have been on his morning coffee run. In the meantime, she glanced around his sleek, pitch black desk. The neatly organized paperwork... the photo of a middle-aged woman, who she presumed to be his mother... the neat set of pens and pencils. The clear glass window, all around the room, gave a look of the whole city. It was fascinating. The elevator behind her suddenly rang, and she knew that the boss had arrived. The nervousness came back.
"Sorry, sometimes I'm late," he said, his all-too-low and sexy voice spoke. "I wasn't expecting you to be so... punctual."
She didn't know why she swallowed so hard when he said that, but she mumbled, "It's okay."
He smiled, sitting down in that black chair that she has looked at earlier, filling up the empty space.
"Nice to meet you," she said, breathing hard.
"The pleasure is all mine," he responded, smirking. He was devilishly handsome, no denying that. "Hmm, you're not what I expected to see today."
Her heart dropped as she asked, "What?"
"You're young," he clarified. "You intrigue me..." he read off the name from his sheet, "Spencer Hastings."
"Oh... uhm... why do I intrigue you?" she curiously asked, tucking a lock of brown hair behind one of her ears. "I mean, I don't understand."
He furrowed his eyebrows and said, "I'm not sure, and that's why. I'd like to find out. You might already know this, but I'm Toby Cavanaugh."
"I do know," she told him with a small laugh.
"Why do you want to work at my company, Miss Spencer Hastings?" he asked, raising his eyebrows again. "My first question is: what drew you to my company?"
"I felt like I had something to offer for this company, and it has something to offer to me. I wanted to get a better-" she began.
"-doesn't matter," he cut her off. "I shouldn't have fooled myself by asking such a question. I don't want to know about your work abilities, or your desire for this company. I want to know about you. Just you."
"Why?" she asked.
"You intrigue me, remember?" he said, licking his lips. "You know what, I feel as if I'm pressuring you. You've got the job."
She was so surprised by what was happening. It was hitting her. What was even going on? She got the job! She was thrilled. But why did she even get it? She didn't understand Mr. Cavanaugh. They had barely spoken. She hadn't told him about her past experiences. He hadn't even looked at her files, her records, her résumé... Why was he so intrigued by her? Why did he hire her at all?
"Really?" she said, her jaw nearly falling off of her face.
"Of course," he responded, a smirk on his face. "I couldn't think of any possible reason to let you go. You're obviously smart. I've glanced at your file. You intrigue me. I need you here. I need to see you around more. I need to know you, of course. Stay here. Work here. Be here. That'll satisfy me. Are we clear, Miss Hastings?"
"Yes, sir," she said, her eyes widening.
"You're dismissed. I'll see you at work for your first day tomorrow," he said, resting his hands on the table. He slid them over to touch her thigh, gently sweeping upwards. Her body grew tense. "Have a nice day."
When he removed his hands from her upper thigh, she got up and walked away. She couldn't believe she had a job at Cavanaugh Industries, even if she wasn't exactly sure why Mr. Cavanaugh hired her...
