"The two of you have work to do. I'll take care of them while you're gone." Shoto said, looking to Izuku and Katsuki. The taller of the two didn't seem to like that. "And how do we know you won't do anything to them?" Katsuki spat. It was obvious he didn't trust Shoto. Even if Shoto was his superior like you assumed he was. "Please, I would never do something like that. Just because you would doesn't mean I'm that type of person. I have more class than that." Shoto replied, looking down at Katsuki.
Izuku stayed silent, crossing his arms over his chest. "What's that supposed to mean?!" Katsuki growled, his hands twitching slightly. Small sparks emitted from his palms. "Exactly what it sounds like. You have less class than me. A mutt, to put it simply." Shoto said carelessly. Katsuki looked like he was about to tackle Shoto. Izuku put a hand on Katsuki's shoulder. It almost seemed like a warning.
Katsuki backed off, rolling his eyes. "Come on, Kacchan. It's better if we get done sooner, right?" Izuku said, trying to make friendly conversation. Well, that was what it seemed like. But, knowing Izuku, that likely wasn't the case. The two walked out, leaving you alone with Shoto. In a way, he was the scariest. The other two seemed to fall into some sort of character archetype. Katsuki was the unhinged animalistic one. Izuku was more of a two-faced character, but you couldn't tell if the innocence was an act or not.
Shoto, on the other hand, was just mysterious. It was almost unsettling. He seemed like he could be pulling the strings, but you assumed that was too predictable. Shoto seemed anything but predictable. "What are you thinking about?" He asked, leaning down to get closer to your level. You didn't respond. He stood up again, his right hand in his pocket. "You're trying to figure us out, aren't you? Well, perhaps I could shed some light." He said, lighting his left hand in flame for a brief moment. He chuckled softly at his own joke.
"I think you'll find that none of us are sane. There is no safe space for you. There is no escape. Beyond that door is a maze of hallways and rooms. You'd be lucky to even make your way back here." Shoto noted. You couldn't help but question why he was telling you this. It didn't make sense. "Not only that, but we'd know. And I can reassure you that you don't want to be chased by Izuku and Katsuki."
You noted that Shoto didn't bring himself up in the conversation. That seemed strange. "Though, of course, if you found some way to subdue them or distract them.." He trailed off, looking down at his hand. "You'd be home free, as long as you knew the way out." His gaze moved back up to you. A soft chill ran down your spine.
"What about you?" You asked, looking away. Shoto seemed taken aback by your question. "Me..? Well, I suppose that's more of a difficult subject. Besides, I can't tell you everything. It's more fun to let you find out some things on your own." He answered, smirking slightly. It was silent for a while. A thick, suffocating silence. Apparently, it was for Shoto, too.
"I have a proposition for you," Shoto said, looking down at you. Instantly, you looked up at him. You could have a chance to figure out some way to escape. "I'll untie you for a while. Until Izuku and Katsuki come back." He looked into your eyes, watching the slight excitement at the thought of not being tied up anymore. You looked away. "What's the catch?" You asked, not fully trusting Shoto.
A smirk formed on Shoto's face. "There isn't one. I let you roam the room until they come back. You can get familiar with your surroundings, figure out what weapons we have to use against you. It's all up to you, really. All I ask for in return is a handshake to seal the deal." He explained, his calm and cool persona not seeming to change. That was all? Just a handshake?
"... fine. Just a handshake." You replied, looking up at Shoto. He seemed satisfied with your answer. He untied your wrists first, holding out his hand. Hesitantly, you shook his hand. It was cold. Ice cold. An ever-so-slight smile came to his face as he finished untying you. "Go ahead. Go wherever you want in this room. You can even try to leave, if you'd like." He moved out of your way as he spoke.
You stood up, your legs a little shaky. You took a second to steady yourself, looking around the dark room. Shoto stayed where he was, not making any move to try to stop you. And so, you explored. You looked through the cart of weapons, sneaking a knife into your pocket. After that, you searched the room for any weak points. Any way out. The only way was the door they'd come through every time. Though, you noted that there was also a trapdoor near one of the corners of the room.
Shoto hadn't moved the whole time, just standing there and occasionally looking over. He didn't even notice as you crept up behind him and put the knife to his throat. Well, you thought he didn't notice. He tensed up. "You're going to tell me what I want to know." You spat. He almost smiled. "Of course. After all, I don't really have much of a choice." Even now, he seemed mostly calm.
Shoto let out a slightly shaky exhale. "Why am I here?" You asked, pushing the blade against Shoto's throat a little bit more. The knife felt right in your hand. "The boss decided you were a problem and asked us to take care of it." He replied. You supposed that answer was good enough. "Who is your boss?" You questioned. Shoto stayed silent for a second. "Classified."
You growled slightly. That wasn't the answer you wanted. You dug the blade a little deeper. "Ask something else. I'm not telling you that until I have to." He said. He hadn't tried to resist at all. "What's under your mask?" That seemed to be the question he was waiting for. He chuckled, grabbing your arm. He moved out of your weak hold and froze you to the floor with ease.
Shoto took off his mask, holding it in his left hand. A red scar covered most of the left half of his face. It looked like a burn scar, though it could've easily been from the cold instead. "I'm glad you asked." He answered, smirking. "This is my mark. The thing that defined my destiny. The thing that damned me to this life." You struggled, trying to escape the ice.
Shoto laughed slightly. "Not that I mind this life, of course. I prefer it to the lie I was living before. Here, I'm a god among men. There, I was nothing more than a trophy." He noted, stepping closer to you. You could see his scar in greater detail. "You'd prefer to be a god, wouldn't you? Feared, but loved. Powerful. If you do as we say, you could be." He said, cupping your cheek in his left hand. It was warm.
"You want to be a god, don't you? You want the world to be in your hands. To make those who hurt you suffer. Just like I did. Even if you don't see it now, you will soon. You'll see how everyone deserves to burn." Shoto's expression darkened for a moment. "Hell, even you and I do. But we won't. After all, we're above the world. Above their judgment." He had a smirk on his face. He gripped you a little tighter.
"They can only watch as things happen, while we control it all. That's the best part about being a god. You'll never be helpless again." Shoto seemed like he was projecting onto you. Like what he was saying was more to himself. Well, his younger self. His words held power and venom. Almost as if he had been powerless at one point, simply left to watch people he cared about go through awful things. His breathing was a little uneven. His other hand twitched at his side. "All it takes is doing as we say. Then you can be a god, too. You won't ever be helpless again."
