The bars of Kyana's cell was wrenched open and she was shoved out into the corridor. Her arms were ripped behind her back and the guards walked her down to the main room. She had a visitor. 'I am here in regards to the King. He wants you under his service.' the messenger didn't even look at Kyana as he was saying this. Kyana hissed to him, 'I will do anything, I mean anything to get out of this horrible place.' The messenger finally looked up to her with a dull expression. 'Your answer Miss? I don't have all day.' 'Fine. Yes. Ok. What do I have to do?' she sighed. 'Sign here. You will go through a series of tests to become the Champion.' he explained.
'So I have to verse people to become the Champion?' she cried. 'Yes.' he said simply. 'Wai-' she was cut short. 'We will be leaving now.' he said and motioned Kyana to follow him. It was too late. She had signed the contract, and there was no turning back.
The messenger gestured for her to enter the carriage. It was emblazoned with the royal crest. Four sleek, black, majestic horses were pulling the carriage. Kyana's hands were still tied behind her back. Probably as a safety precaution so that she didn't kill anyone. Kyana was known as the youngest and the most notorious killer in the whole of The Haven Kingdom. Her parents died when she was eight years old. She was found by the Shadow organization, which took her in and taught her to become an Assassin. Kyana had been caught. The number one rule of an Assassin's life is to never get caught. But she had been most unfortunate and got caught. Now, she was partially free. So it was probably a good thing that her hands were tied.
After a very winding journey, the carriage lurched to a halt outside the Royal Castle. The messenger opened the door for her and she got out. He untied her hands and lead her inside. She was escorted by four guards, one in front, behind and beside her. They walked into the Throne Room where the King sat. Sitting to his left was the Crown Prince. He was very handsome in Kyana's opinion. 'How unfair of him to be that handsome!' she thought. The Crown Prince looked at her and grinned.
'Kyana Kennicott!' the King boomed. 'You are here to participate in the tests to become my personal Champion. Are you not?' 'Yes, I am. Your Majesty.' she hastily added. 'Good. And you are originally from The City of Houxeville?' he boomed. 'Yes, Your Majesty.' she said. 'Interesting. It says here that you were brought up by The Shadow Organization and you are currently turning 18 this year. Yes?' the King looked at her. 'Yes, Your Majesty.' she whispered. She saw that out the corner of her eye, she saw the Crown Prince's eyes widen in surprise. Kyana couldn't help but smirk. 'Thinks I'm pretty young, huh? ' she thought. 'You may leave. Dakari, take the Assassin to her chambers. But make sure you bring some guards too.' the King dismissed Kyana and the Crown Prince Dakari.
'So,' said Dakari, ' you're turning eighteen this year right?' 'Yup.' Kyana said. 'And you're an assassin.' he said. 'Also yes.' she replied. 'Wow. Aren't you a bit young to be an assassin?' he asked. 'Seriously? ' she thought to herself. But she said out loud, 'No. You are never too young to do something. I was a fully qualified assassin when I was twelve.' 'I'm surprised. And impressed. That is really young.' Dakari looked genuinely impressed. 'Aren't you scared I'm going to kill you or something?' Kyana asked. 'Of course! But you know, princes need to keep their cool.' he smiled at her. 'Well, you're doing a good job of covering it up.' she said sincerely. 'Why thank you.' he whispered.
'Well, here is your chamber.' he stopped and opened the door for her. Kyana walked in and Dakari asked, 'Can I come in for a bit?' 'Um, ok.' Kyana said. He strode in and sat in an armchair near the fire. So why did you want to come here to try out for the Champion? he questioned. 'This is obviously going to take some time. I might as well sit down. ' Kyana thought. She strolled over to the armchair opposite Dakari. 'Anything is better than where I've been the past two years.' she whispered. There was silence so thick, you could cut with a knife. At that time, Dakari stared at her. She was so pretty! Kyana. The girl with lovely locks. Her hair was almost down to her waist and was a lovely blonde colour. Her eyes were brown and when the fire leapt, it made her eyes look amber. In short, she was beautiful. He couldn't deny it. He was snapped out of his daze when Kyana spoke again. 'I killed a man when I was twelve. It was part of my test in becoming an assassin. I snuck into his house at night and slit his throat before he even knew what was happening.' she gazed into the fire and the look in her eyes seemed like she was reliving the moment. 'That's terrible.' Dakari whispered. 'But let's not dwell on the past. How do you stuffy nobles clean this place!' she laughed. Kyana and Dakari spent the next hour talking about snooty rich people and laughing until their ribs hurt. 'Thank you for coming in here and cheering me up.' Kyana smiled. 'And thank you for not killing me.' Dakari smirked. 'If you don't let me sleep now, then I might reconsider.' Kyana chuckled. 'Goodnight Kyana. You have training tomorrow, so you need some sleep.' Dakari said. He left the room and Kyana got into bed, having the most peaceful night she had had in a long time.
