Malfoy didn't reappear in classes until late on Thursday morning, when the Slytherins and Gryffindors were halfway through double Potions. He swaggered into the dungeon, his right arm covered in bandages and bound up in a sling, acting, in Rose's opinion, as though he were the heroic survivor of some dreadful battle.
"How is it, Draco?" simpered Pansy Parkinson. "Does it hurt much?"
"Yeah," said Malfoy, putting on a brave sort of grimace. But our quartet saw him wink at Crabbe and Goyle when Pansy had looked away.
"Settle down, settle down," said Professor Snape idly.
"Wake me when it's over." Rosalie said with her head on the table, and her arms being used as a little pillow. Hermione looked like she was going to argue, but giggled at the girl from beside her anyway, muttering an, "okay" quietly.
Harry and Ron then scowled at each other; Snape wouldn't have said "settle down" if they'd walked in late, he'd have given them detention. But Malfoy had always been able to get away with anything in Snape's classes; Snape was head of Slytherin House, and generally favored his own students above allot hers.
But, Rose saw that he particularly hated Harry like ten times more than the others, and two times more than he hated her, Ron and Hermione. Her being a close second, then Hermione and then Ron.
She first saw it in their first year, when they met Snape who started interrogating Harry, and Harry only when Hermione had her hand raised.
She also knew the answer to her question, "Why would he hate Harold more than everybody else?" due her daily tea parties with Professor McGonagall. The teacher had a soft spot for her. Apparently, turns out that Professor Snivvles was in love with Harry's mother, and was bullied constantly during his time at Hogwarts by Harry's father and his friends. And... His bully married the girl the Potions teacher was in love with, then had Harry.
There are also lots of other stories about Harry's parents, told by Professor McGonagall, but it's all a carrousel of emotions and change of hearts, as Muggles say.
But, coming back from Professor Snape's love life dramas... They were making a new potion today, a Shrinking Solution. Malfoy set up his cauldron right next to Harry and Ron, so that they were preparing their ingredients on the same table.
