MINNIE

This day is almost over. I can do it. I sat down in my chair for biology class, and once again, Ruby wanted this seat, which I refused to give to her again. Did she leave? No. She still refused. "That's my seat, peasant." "I'm not your peasant, I have a name just like you do, bitch." She gasped and said "I'm not a bitch!" I responded "If you're going to call me a peasant, I'll call you a bitch. Seems fair to me." She folded her arms and made a hmph sound and walked away. Finally, let me have my peace. I laid my head back down on the desk and closed my eyes until the teacher comes. Autumn wouldn't be in this class cause she got in trouble for smacking a boy during a lunch, he had it coming anyways.

A boy sat next to me instead. Not just any boy, Beomgyu. Choi Beomgyu himself. I lifted my head up and looked at him. He smiled and said "Hi, Minnie. Nice to see you again." I waved at him and said "Nice to see you again as well." He asked "How have you been today?" I answered "Like every other day. Every day sucks." He pouted and said "Well, I'll be here to make it better for you from now on." I faked a smile and said "Thanks, I needed to hear that." He smiled back at me. I was really good at faking smiles, been doing it my whole life. I've been lying to people about how I really felt since...middle school I think. I guess it just comes to you naturally after a while, sometimes, I don't even realize I'm faking a smile or lying about good mental health. I guess when you live my world, you get used to things like this. Welcome to Minnie's world, it's a mess.

Beomgyu looked at me and said "So, what about that girl? She's been bothering you?" I looked at him and said "Who? Ruby? Yeah, since freshman year. But you get used to it when you live my life." Beomgyu frowned at me and said "Tell me if she bothers you again. I don't wanna see you getting hurt." I responded "It's alright, I can handle her." Beomgyu said "Minnie, just tell me, please. Tell me when she bothers you. I want to be able to handle it for you. I want to be that person you can rely on and come to whenever you need to talk, a shoulder to cry on, some help with school, advice, a friend, anything." I smiled, genuinely, and I said "Thanks. I really needed that. For real." Did I just smile...? I haven't smiled in so long...I've never felt the need to smile before...is this magic? I rubbed my cheeks. Beomgyu looked at me and chuckled "What are you doing?" I responded "I-...I smiled...I havent smiled in so long, I can't even remember..." He raised an eyebrow and chuckled "Really? I guess I'm magic then." I looked at him and said "Give me some more of your magic. I-I liked it, I felt warm and nice..." He laughed and said "Maybe if you bring me those snacks you used to when you were little, I just might." I smiled again and said "You bet!"

BEOMGYU'S POV

I rested my chin on my palm staring at Minnie. She was so beautiful...her long brown hair that looked black in the winter time, her smile she's been hiding for centuries, her chubby cheeks, her lips- did I just say her lips? What is going on in my brain? She dug into her backpack and took out a little bag, and handed me a snack from Japan. "Here, you're going to need to eat something. You're skinny." She giggled. I took it "Thanks. It looks good. Does it taste good though?" She nodded her head really fast. "You're gonna get a headache, Minnie." She stopped......and then continued. "Are you gonna keep doing that until I try it?" She nodded her head even faster and then I opened up the snack and tried it. She stopped and shook her head "Dizzyyyyy" "I told you, you were going to get a headache." She laughed and I smiled, I haven't heard that laugh in so long, I missed it so much. I missed her in general. She was my childhood crush and then we never saw each other again until this year. Wonder why? That story is for another chapter.

MINNIE'S POV

I was enjoying my time with Beomgyu until Ruby came up to us. The teacher was out of the class for the time being so she took this as her time to strike, I suppose. She put her hands on my desk. "Oooh, sitting next to the new kid?" I nodded my head. She looked at Beomgyu and then looked back at me. "Mind getting out my seat now?" I responded "It's literally the first day of school. These seats belong to no one, they're just here so we can have a place to sit. I'm pretty sure the teachers are gonna start giving us seating arrangements by the time it's next week. THATS when you'll be able to know what's ACTUALLY your seat. Now get out of my sight before I make you." She put her hands up in defense and smirked at me "Wow. Bold. But not bold enough." She grabbed onto my hair and dragged me to the floor and started kicking my body and stomping on my stomach. I kicked her knees, which caused her to fall down, and I got up and walked back to my seat and sat down in it. She got up and I stared her down "Try it. Try me, bitch." She walked back to her seat and I nodded my head. "That's what I thought." Beomgyu looked at me and smiled "Nice. You stood up for yourself. But are you injured?" I nodded my head no "I'm good. Just a little pain." He looked at me for permission for something and I nodded my head. He patted my head and rubbed my back. Suddenly, I felt the pain go away. I looked at him and gasped "Magic."
