so im sorta a new fan...and marichat is my fave ship so I thought I'd write something. Please don't hate me because I'm new to the fandom 😭✋
If you guys like this chapter I've already written some more..so let me know;)
Also there might be grammar errors, it's not edited yet...or it may never be.
But this story is in the future more so they're 18. So legal consenting age. They're isn't like ~sin~  If there is...sin...I'll warn ya...
Hopefully I don't abandon this fanfic...

Chapter 1:
*flashback... 4 years ago*
"A-Adrien I need t-to tell you something"
"What's up Marinette" he smiles, his gorgeous smile. His deep green eyes staring into mine. I stare back in awe.
"Are you okay Marinette?" I snap out of it. I feel the crimson red take over my face.
"A-Adrien, I like you as in more than a f-friend" I feel like I'm gonna cry what's he going to say! It's been almost 3 years for heaven's sake! We're gonna graduate highschool soon!
"M-Marinette...um....I have my heart set on lad- another girl.."
My heart shatters. I immediately want to puke.
I feel the tears but I hold them back,
"O-oh o-okay... I got t-to go" I sprint away the tears escaping as a sob falls out of my mouth.
"Mari wait!" He tries to grab me but I run as fast as I can back to the bakery.

*Present*
marinette pov
"To the Class of 2081!" Everyone throws their caps in the air
"We did it!" Alya hugs me, embracing our last moments together.
"We did it" I smile at her, knowing that this smile will soon turn to sadness.
"We made it babe!" Nino kisses Alya passionately, they're made it all these years. As for me, I've been lonely. I told him I liked him and he rejected me....Adrien, I slowly got over him. I may still swoon over him but I ultimately remember the hurt he endured on me. We're friends though, good friends.
"Ah come here guys!" Adrien grabs us for a group hug. He slips his hand around my waist and I don't even notice. Until I do, my face turns crimson. I look at him and he's already looking at me, where was this coming from? Why now? Why today. I escaped they're grips and run off..I've been so stressed lately, and now this? Between
Ladybug, and thinking about after college, and feelings for boys...it's all so much. I find a place to transform, Tikki doesn't protest.
"Tikki spots on* I feel the type suit around me.
"Marinette!?" I here adrien yell, I jump to the rooft top so he doesn't suspect a thing. I've had my fair share of run ins with Adrien as ladybug, even when I liked him I some how managed to learn to keep my cool...unlike when I was marinette..it doesn't matter anyway.
"Hey there pretty boy watcha looking for...also congrats on graduation" I acknowledge his cap and gown.
"L-ladybug um.." he clears his throat
"Im looking for my friend, Marinette, something happened and she ran off"
I jump down to him getting closer than ever. I've learned to play with Adrien, yeah that sounds pretty bad, but I find it amusing.
"Oh, yes Mari, I talked to her she looked quite upset. She told me she needed space and she was going for a walk." I totally lied to keep my identity a secret of course. He looks defeated, like he doesn't know what to do. He suddenly gets a burst of anger and punches the brick wall in front of him causing him to groin in pain.
"Woah Adrien what's wrong hey" I grab his now bleeding hand to check the damages.
"I-i just.... Don't know what I want" he throws his hand from mine turns away and doesn't look back. What does he mean? It could mean so many things.. I try to brush it off, I should return to the ceremony people may be getting worried. But isn't today my day? Why should I care? Ugh this is exhausting.
I get on top of paris, as in the buildings around patrolling making sure no nasty akumas are around. Hoping to see my kitty cat. Me and Chat...are on good terms. I don't know what happened between us, but I know I rejected him at first, now we're just partners. He must have gotten over me like I did with Adrien. To my surprise I hear his velvet like voice purr,
"Hello M'lady" he jumps beside me smiling
"Hi kitty" I smile back.
"Bugaboo you look down whats wrong? Concern growing on his face
"Many things Chat..." I make eye contact and then look down at the busy city. Before any more words can be said my miraculous beeps, one spot gone.
"Well kitty I outa be outa here, bug out" I throw my yoyo towards the bakery, not caring about graduation. I transform in the alley and Tikki goes back to my purse. I make my way towards my house when I see the black cat looking down at me.
"Hello my princess" he says with his devilish smirk.
"Hey Chat" I say with low energy.
"My good friend Adrien Agreste has been looking for you, he wanted me to check in" Me and Chat while I'm Marinette is great...he's one of my best friends. This is all so confusing but it's to keep us safe. I've always wondered who the boy under the mask was.
"Oh" I frown at him mentioning Adrien
"Aren't you graduating today princess! What're you doing here alone?"
"I'm confused Chat" I look at him, his deep green eyes looking back.
"About what?"
"Well it's just, I know we've gotten older, and things change...but A-Adrien.."
3rd person pov
Chats eyes open wider at the mention of his name...well his 'alter ego'
"What about him?"
"A few years ago, I told him I liked him. I damn near l-loved him...and he rejected me, with no follow up whatsoever. All these years, no girlfriend no nothing. It made me think he just said that to be nice"
Chat didn't know what to say. He didn't reject Marinette because he didn't like her...he loved Ladybug, but Ladybug didn't reciprocate the feelings.
"Then today he hugged me, put his hand around my waist and gave me this look. The look I used to give him. And I wonder if I still so give him the look.." Marinettes sadness soon turns to frustration.
"No! I tried I gave him all the signs I told him. He doesn't even know how long it took me to get over that! Not knowing when he was gonna come to school with a shiny new girl on his hip. And I had to pretend I was alright while being his friend!"
"Mari i-" Chat was speechless, tears brimming her eyes, yearning to escape and flow like a river. Chat can't let her see, he has to be there. Marinette starts uncontrollably sobbing, not knowing what to do or think, but Chat thinks quickly.
marinette pov
Chat picks me up in the most gentle form he could
"Princess come here" he extends his baton landing on my balcony. While still holding me he opens the door on the roof to softly land on my bed. The tears still escaping my eyes like a fire hydrant. He lays me down on my bed, putting me under the covers, making sure to as close to me as possible. He starts pulling his fingers through my hair calming me down. My head on his chest, his breathing regular, but his heart pumping. His other hand delicately placed on my hip to keep me close to him. I cry until there's no tears left, slowly falling asleep whilst Chat Noir soothes me, almost like he fixes me just like that....
