"do you realize it already passed midnight and today is Saturday and also valentine's day?" scarlett asked her husband Nate for nearly 15 years who sat beside her while watching a movie together.
Nate looked at her wife confused "didn't we stop celebrating valentine since 3 or 4 years ago?"
"well yes but isn't it ironic valentine's day on Saturday?"
"then good luck for diners or restaurants or any other romantic places out there"
Scarlett pouted "so we're not gonna celebrate it?"
"but didn't we-"
She rolled her eyes "yeah yeah but will you give me presents for today?"
"if you want one you just have to ask, my darling wife" now its nate's turn to rolling eyes
Scarlett grinned "not really but if you insist"
"what do you want?"
Scarlett thought for a moment "actually I don't really like valentine-"
"neither do I and that's one of the reason we stop celebrating"
"-and I don't want presents which is material, you know? Like shoes or bags. I want some action or gestures or something like that"
Nate frowned "like flowers?"
"well yeah that's the example but flowers are so over rated. We're in our 40s, we're so over flowers don't you think?"
"then will you be more specific? I kinda don't get it"
Scarlett sighed "then forget it, we agreed to stop celebrating, it was just me being silly I guess"
Nate looked at scarlett for a moment then shrugged and then continued watching the movie while bringing scarlett close to snuggle.
After 10minutes of watching, suddenly nate stood up and walked towards their youngest's room leaving scarlett confused on the couch. Not long after that, nate came back with paper and crayons which belong to their 5year-old daughter.
Nate began drawing something and scarlett took a glance at it
"no peeking, wifey" nate said turning away so scarlett couldn't see
Nate finished drawing and gave it to scarlett with wide smile. Scarlett took and looked into it.
Dear Scarlett the love of my life,
I love you from my head to-ma-toes.
And there's a drawing of tomatoes below the red writings
Scarlett grinned from ear to ear and reached for the crayon and started drawing. After she finished, she gave it back to Nate
And there's yellow writings and drawing of a corn beside the tomatoes
Dear Nate the apple of my eye,
You're so corny. xx
Nate barked a laugh and scarlett silenced him by slapped a hand over his mouth.
"ssstt you don't wanna wake up our two girls" scarlett said seductively
"no, I don't" he lifted scarlett up and carried her bridal style as he stood up "and I recall you want some action?" nate asked teasingly
"yes I believe so my husband" and she kissed him. Nate brought scarlett towards their bedroom and locked it.
What a very good valentine indeed.
