I will give this to the prison, it is very hot. We were walking towards the prison and even from behind the door, I could tell that the temperature was like an oven's. A guard opens the door, as we all get shoved in; the heat becoming more apparent. Before the guards grab our shackles and drag us along.
Examining the inhabitants of the cells, I could see all manner of inhabitants, from big burly men to frail little kids, and everyone in between. Looking at their faces, malnourished and hopeless, the burning fire in my stomach burns brighter and hotter, as fire magic sparks from my hands to try and heat my cuffs. But I hear my guard whisper to me:
"All of us are trained in fire magic, so don't think heating your cuffs will get you anywhere," my eyes narrow as the fire extinguishes.
We reach the end of the hallway when two guards stop us.
"We just got orders from King Ignis, we'll need to take that one," one guard points to Cindias, as we all tense up. No way in hell are we going to let our efforts go to waste.
I feel Cindias' wings flare up as they try to grab him; I hear someone mutter something; and the next thing I know, Cindias is on the ground paralyzed.
The two guards grab him and take him away; while the guards still with us push us into the cell placed on the back wall.
We walk into the cramped cell, surely not enough room to fit five people. The guards position us around the room as one grabs the keys to our shackles.
"It's always fun to see how they react when we do this," he smirks, and he goes around, unlocking the shackles of all my friends. My anger rising as they just let him unshackle them, like they already lost hope, at most a death glare that had no action behind it.
However, when he reaches me, as soon as the shackles leave my wrist; fire forms around my wrists as my hand wraps around his throat. His adam's apple bouncing as he chuckles. Only fueling the fire on my hand.
"Dawn stop," Helios shouts as he pulls me off the guard, all his comrades smirking, and some eyeing me cautiously; their hands gripping their weapons.
The guard holding the keys stands, with a burn mark the size of my hand around his neck. But he was still laughing.
"Well you certainly got spark girl, can't wait to see what will happen to the rest of your friends," he and his friends laugh as the door slams shut, a click resounding from the lock; making it clear we were trapped here.
"What was that for?" Vesta asks. Glaring at me with enough fire to make a small forest burn.
"Well excuse me if I wanted to get out," I reply with enough venom to poison a bull.
"That wasn't trying to get out; that was taking your anger out on the guard; now who knows what'll happen due to your actions," Vesta snapped back.
"What were you guys doing; sitting there accepting your fate; the fight isn't over, and you guys act like we already lost," I chastise them.
"But we did lose Dawn; we're here in prison, Cindias and the Fire Ruby are going with King Ignis, who will hand the Fire Ruby to Kaldoro, and no one will be able to stop them," Roman sighs, slouching on the bed with his eye to the ground.
"And we wouldn't be here if someone hadn't decided to fight instead of surrendering," Vesta snarks.
"Wouldn't anyone else, I wasn't going to let our plans go to waste," I reply. My fists clenching as I stare at the handmaid leaning against the wall.
"Oh that's not even the end of it, with us taking so slow with the puzzle, the bridge, and the staircase, it's amazing Cindias was still alive by the time we go there," Vesta continues to complain. I roll my eyes as I join Raina against the wall.
