I HAD TO WRITE THIS FOR AN ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT AND I WAS PROUD OF IT LOL-

TW//drowning

Sydney sauntered into the basement in which she resided, joyous as she and Stanley had recently finished their school project and didn't have to work on it anymore. She examined her cracked apple watch to realise that it was 9:30 pm. Yawning, she wandered over to the wardrobe tucked neatly into the corner of the room and picked out some clothes that she could sleep in. Out of nowhere, she heard someone very lightly singing, she looked around but saw nothing. Maybe she was just hearing things as she was tired, but then there it was again. Louder this time. The same lullaby but she couldn't see who was singing it.

Sydney thought nothing of it and hopped into her bed. But just as she did, she heard something fall. Once again, she thought nothing of it. It was probably just one of the books on her shelf and made a mental note to pick it up in the morning. What she didn't realise was that someone was in there with her, watching her. The almost inhuman figure crawled in a contorted way towards the bed and it was only when Sydney smelt something damp that she woke up. She heard something pick itself up off the ground and could sense the frosted breath on her clothed back, yet she didn't turn around. She couldn't risk it.

There were tales of the girl who was unfortunately thrown in a well by her mother and now wishes to get vengeance on every female to make them pay for what happened. Sydney didn't believe the tales but now she was thinking maybe she should. After she built up her confidence, she quickly flipped her body around to realise there was nothing there and that she had just been paranoid again. The possibility that the myths were true made her uneasy. So she relaxed her shoulders and sighed, turning round to reveal the girls face glaring right back at her. She made the mistake of looking into her piercing blue eyes and watched fearfully as they flooded with what looked like black paint. This was said to be the way you die. Looking into her eyes as you watch her mother throw her into the well, through the reflection of her pupils.

Sydney then felt her body leave the comfort of her bed as she saw the moss covered well, staring right back at her, the moulding bricks and disturbing smell almost begging her to come in, without hesitation , she obeyed. Striding closer and closer to her inevitable end . When she reached the well, she turned, coming face to face with the girl once again. Sydney looked at her with pleading eyes but it was no use, "goodbye" the girl said faintly before pushing Sydney in, plummeting into the water. It felt almost like slow motion as the events of her past came to haunt her, flashing before her eyes, but that was soon over with as she detected the water overpopulating the air in her lungs. It felt like the air was being sucked out of her body, the girl's physique slowly melting out of view. Sydney screamed but no one heard, she just continued descending into the clear liquid until she arrived at the floor of the well, her head beginning to leak blood from the sudden impact, staining the water around her.

Sydney's short ginger hair began to crowd her face minimising the already little air she had. She thought about her brother, panicked wondering where she was, not believing that she was gone. Stanley breaking down as he heard the news that his best friend was dead. Her mother falling to the floor clutching the last memories of her lost daughter. She tried to swim to the surface but something was covering it, a rock perhaps. She had no escape and would now have to submit to her untimely demise. She gave in, releasing the breath she had been holding for the past few minutes, letting the cold water seep further into her lungs until they could hold no more. This was it. She was gone. At the bottom of the well, her body began its process of deterioration.

3rd person POV (stanley):

His phone dropped, smashing, ending the current call he was on. His knees buckled under the sudden weight of his whole body collapsing on to the concrete below him. Stanley screamed in a pain he thought he would never experience. He sobbed. The sunlight burning into his skin from looking up. She was gone. The love of his life, gone.
