First Shift as a 3rd year resident

Today is my first day at Grey Sloan Memorial Today's the day I finally get to be a surgeon. Of course as a resident. I'll probably get a bunch of scut, but oh well.

"Y/N we have to leave!" That's my roommate calling. She and a intern carpool with me to work ever since I was an intern. I lived with her since my intern year, but I'm not complaining she's my best friend at home and at work. I'm glad we work at the same hospital, Grey+Sloan Memorial.

I have a lot to live up to since my mother was the Ellis Grey and my sister is Meredith Grey. Meredith did the mini livers study our mom started a long time ago.

My roommate Dr. Arizona Robbins is perky and sweet. She even has a daughter named Sofia from her previous marriage. Her daughter calls me aunt Y/N because I knew her since she was born. Arizona is the head of fetal surgery and firmly head of Peds surgery. My other roommate Dr. Andrew DeLuca is Stephanie's intern( one of my BFFs) and he is from Italy. He has a interest in general surgery that's Meredith's specialty.

"Finally Y/N Andrew and I were thinking you were sleeping in" I chuckled as I was gathering my purse and coffee and helping Sofia get her stuff together and following them to Arizona's car.

"I can't wait to help you and tiny humans today Arizona." Peds isn't my favorite specialty although I like it but I can't tell her that. " Any surgeries today Arizona." I asked her. "Actually there is one but it's a expecting mom so OB/GYN is going to deliver them and we will take them to the NICU" she said. "That's ok I'm happy to help in any way." I told her.

We dropped Sofia off at at school and headed straight to the hospital. We parted ways as soon as we entered the hospital. I went to the resident lounge and saw my friends."Hey guys! Who's service is everyone on? I'm on Peds with Robbins." I greeted and asked my friends. "I'm on Dr. Grey's service today." said Jo(my other BFF). "I'm on Dr. Kepner's service today." said Leah Murphy. " im on Dr. Pierce's service today" said Shane Ross. "I'm on Dr. DeLuca's service today" said Stephanie.

When I heard that name I though she was talking about Andrew. So I asked "what's Dr. DeLuca's first name Steph." Carina DeLuca she just started today she's a OB/GYN why?" she asked. "I thought you was talking about your intern Andrew DeLuca maybe they're related somehow" I said to Stephanie. "Maybe yeah." she said. We all got changed and did our rounds with our interns.
My interns and I found Arizona in our patient's room." Who's presenting?" she asked me. "Helm present please." I told her. "Teddy Altman 40 weeks she's here for a C-section." she told us with pride. "Good Helm you're on her case and you get to scrub in with us." I told her she was excited but a little nervous.
That was all the patients for rounds. So me and Arizona talked. I told her about the new OB/GYN. Soon it was time for our surgery with the new OB. Arizona and I checked the baby it was a healthy baby girl we took her to the NICU. "Helm gives us updates tomorrow." I said. "OK Dr. Grey and Dr. Robbins see you tomorrow." she said.
"Hey Arizona wanna go to Joe's when were off?" I asked. "Yeah sure I'll see you at 8 in the lobby ok?" She said. "Sounds like a plan." I agreed with her. It was 7:30pm I went to change out of my scrubs and met Arizona in the lobby. "Hey Robbins you ready to get drinks?" I asked her. "Yeah Grey we better getting going before Bailey sees us leaving." she said laughing. "Thats a good idea." I said laughing as well.
