Carter's P.O.V

What the hell! Oh my fucking god!

What did you just do? How could you do that?

I ran through the forest, looking back to make sure no one was following. I wanted to make sure that they weren't chasing me.

[Snap]

It's no use! No matter how fast I run, they'll end up being behind me. Maybe I'll lose them if I go through the small opening in the woods!

Yeah! That should work. That always works in the movies.

I went through the small opening, the branches weren't making it easy to get through. The branches seem to have cut me up, but a little blood never killed anyone.

And I was right, a little blood never killed anyone, but not looking where you're walking will. I took a tumble down a very steep hill. I swear I had broken every rib in my body, but I also like to exaggerate about my pain. This was the moment that I passed out the cold forest dirt, the moment everything turned black.

[Flashback]

"Carter sweetie, wake up. It's time for dinner; we also want you to meet someone. They'll be staying with us for a while." What time is it? What year am I in? I need to stop taking naps.

What you should do is start to get up and get ready for dinner. That would be a smart thing to do. You'll also be very happy to see this "new" person. You don't know them, but you'll love them once you do.

I would say that it's my conscious speaking, but I'm pretty sure that it's not. Ever since I was young, I've always heard it talking with me. I don't know where he came from, but we're both stuck suffering in this world.

I should really stop taking naps in the middle of the day, I always end up getting my sleeping schedule messed up. I took a look in the mirror and cringed at how awful I looked. It's not like I'm going to see anyone I like. And with that I left my bedroom, and went downstairs to meet the mystery guest.

I was on the last step, I saw the guest. She was a beautiful young girl. She looked to be around my age. Who is she?

I don't remember her or even recognize her, but there's something about her. I feel a strong a connection with her. It's like nothing I've ever felt before.

"I don't want to sound rude, but who are you? What's your name? Where are you from? I'm sorry about all the questions, but I'm intrigued to know." Her eyes are a hazel color, but from a far they look green with a hint of gold.

"Carter, this is your cousin Freya. She'll be staying with us for the rest of the school year. I know that it's a lot to handle, but I hope you two get along." My cousin? This will certainly be interesting.

Indeed it will, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

"Why didn't you guys tell me that I had a cousin? More importantly, why didn't you ever mention she was coming here?" This was starting to sound shady. They're not telling me everything, but it wouldn't be the first time they hid something.

"Hey Carter, I'm Freya. I'm your cousin, your mom is my aunt, she's also my moms sister. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that I was coming. I hope that we can get along." Soft spoken, confident, but shy.

"It's fine, that doesn't matter right now. All that matters is that you're here. Welcome home I guess. Don't make to much of a mess." I placed my hand in her shoulder and smiled at her.
