High School Sweethearts (Newt x Reader AU)

Movie night |13

 A few hours of games and playing pass and it is time for Lizzy's second nap. Newt picks up Lizzy and carries her to her room. I decided to do some washing up and put the dishes away. Newt shortly walks out and gives me a small smile.

"You didn't need to wash the dishes, I could've done them."

"It's ok I don't mind," I say as I finish putting the dishes away.

"Lizzy should be asleep for an hour or so. So what do you want to do?"

"Watch a movie?" I say.

"Sure. What do you wanna watch?" We walk over to the living room and I sit on the couch while Newt turns the TV on. As he starts to scroll through the movie section on Netflix. I decide that I want to watch 'Love Actually' so, I playfully take the remote from Newt and pull it up. "Isn't this a Christmas movie?" Newt laughs.

"And? What's wrong with a Christmas movie?" I ask.

"Nothing, it's just that it's the middle of the summer."

"You know, you kind of look like an older Sam," I say to Newt.

"I don't see it."

"No? I'm serious, you look just like him."

"I don't know, maybe a little."

"You know what he might be cuter than you. Maybe that's why you don't see it."

"So what you're saying is you think I'm cute?" he looks at me with a smirk.

"That's not what I meant," I say as I start to get flustered.

"If you say so." He says with a small laugh.

"Just watch the movie," I say playfully shoving him.

We are halfway through the movie when I notice Newt has closed the gap between us. I lay my head on his shoulder and cuddle up to him, feeling the warmth of his body transfer to me. As we sit in our created peace, Newt slowly moves his arm to lay around my shoulder and pulls me closer. We lay there in peaceful silence as the movie plays, occasionally looking at each other and smiling.
