Chapter 1
The beginning
Jeff Stark was a pilot for a Calgary-based international airline. Late one Friday, Jeff's boss told him he had a special project that he wanted Jeff to consider taking on. He told him about a friend of his who was an inventor and was in need of a good pilot to test a new jetpack (the first jetpack ever actually made).
Testing would have to be done in a secret location and would require Jeff to not tell anyone else about what he was doing. Jeff asked if he could at least share it with his wife Sarah and his two kids, Benjamin and Stella. His boss hesitated and then agreed that telling them would be ok but he would need an answer by Monday. Jeff said he would think about it and went home.
When Jeff got home that night he told his family about the project.
"Dad! That's so cool!", said Benjamin. "You could be like a superhero!"
"Oh Daddy!", exclaimed Stella. "Could you take me flying with you?"
Sarah was not as enthusiastic
"I really don't think you should do this Jeff.... It could be very dangerous!"
