Koi had been at home for 2 weeks, after being locked up in a mental home. He was quiet, closed in, and his family was worried about him. He didn't feel like himself.
He looked up at the door of his bedroom as he heard a knock. "Sweetie?" A calm and quiet voice crept through the gaps of the door, muffled. He stayed quiet. Another knock. Then another. "Go away.. go away..." Koi mumbled, covering his ears in desperation. "You're torturing me.. just go away.." The knocking stopped. He got up, walking over to the door, opening it. He looked at his mom's picture on the wall. What a haunting picture. A voice came from downstairs. It was cold, and deep. "Koi, dinner's ready." Koi sighed, walking downstairs. He saw his father, and his stepmother. "Hey twat, how'd you sleep?" the female asked. 'Twat..' He sighed, "She's keeping me up at night." he said quietly as he sat down. His father sighed and looked at his stepmother. Koi stayed quiet and stared down at his plate. His mom. Her beautiful brown hair that swayed in the wind that came through the window. It covered her stunning golden eyes, and her sweet smile. Her memory is all he has. She was gone, and it was all his fault.
Koi awoke to the sound of banging on his bedroom door, followed by his stepmother's voice; "Koi, we're going out, are you coming?" He looked down at his phone, seeing it was more than five hours since he ate dinner. He hesitated before speaking. "Uhh, no thanks... but could you get me a monster drink? I can send money with you." The older female opened his door, nodding and coming into his room while he pulled three dollars out of his pants pocket. He handed it to her. She ruffled his hair and went back to the door, "We'll be back bud. Don't open the door for anyone. We have the keys so you'll know we're home." She walked out and shut the door. Koi looking at the crack of the door, looking back down at his legs. He played with his sleeves and then stood, going over to a structure that was covered by a sheet in the corner of his room. He pulled the sheet off, revealing a painting easel. The painting was that of a flock of birds. All the birds being normal black and white, besides one bird, colorful with yellow and blue stripes, as well as a torn wing. He stared at it for a second before taking a cup from a stack of cups on the floor next to the easel, leaving his room to go fill it up with water. He looked around the kitchen as he filled it up. He went back up and began painting.
Hours went by and he heard the downstairs door opening. He quickly threw the sheet over the painting but made sure it didn't directly make contact with the wet paint. He went over to his bedroom door, opening it and seeing his dad, stepmother and someone he didn't recognize. He frowned and hid behind the wall next to the stairs. The person had long black hair and brown eyes. His father began talking, "Thank you so much for agreeing to this. We didn't really know what to do with the way he's been acting. I think this will do him well." His stepmother had a frown, also holding a monster drink as she promised. Koi began walking down the stairs consciously, catching the attention of the three.
