It was just after Ray and Emma had escaped the ophanage with the other kids into the frorest. They were running as fast as they could. But emma still couldnt take her mind of Norman being adopted. 'Hes dead' she kept repeating forcing herself to believe the words. But she still couldnt. Norman's to smart for that. He has a plan. He'll come back. I know it, hes not dead.
"Emma focuse." Said Ray pulling her out of her thoughts.
"I am" She cheerfully said putting on a fake smile for Ray and the others. "We should find a place to stop for the night." She said glancing over at a circle of trees. Emma glanced back at Ray, who slightly nodded and they led the other kids over and set up camp fro the night.
"Emma can i talk to you?" Asked ray after the others fell asleep.
"Sure." Said Emma.
"I know you're still thinking Norman's still alive. You know he was 'adopted' and sold to the demons for food." Said Ray trying to destroy all of Emma's hope.
"You don't know that." Emma tried to argue but her words coming out weak and unconvincible. Ray looked at Emma in the eyes and shook his head and headed towards the trees. "I'll take first watch. You go to bed." He stated. Emma had trouble finding comfort in the forest and unable to sleep. She looked over to where Ray stood watching to make sure the deamons hadn't figured out where they were yet. She admired at how much more stratigic and coolheaded Ray was and not naive like she was. How he could always look at a situation and not let personal feelings get in the way. If she didnt have Ray she would have run like they had but would stay close to the wall, waiting for Norman to ruturn. She would have tried to bring all the kids. Took Phil and not let him take care of it when he turned six.

The next day Emma was tirred. She ended up switching spots with Ray after she realised she wouldnt be able to sleep. She liked the outdoors and always had. She enjoyed and admired the little things, things she wouldn't have normaly noticed stuck out to her. Maybe because she was on gard and was trying to pay close attention, or maybe becasue she knew that she may not kive that much longer to enjoy those little things that much longer.
She didn't like to think that way though. She tried to keep a smile on her face and be cheery and happy, for the younger ones, the ones who missed home, the ones that felt like they were going to die and the scared ones, she also found that keeping up the facade helped her push through. Thinking about how the others would be if she wasn't there to be posotive and lift up their spirits, and to give them hope.
