CHAPTER ONE
ditch day
HOPE SAT DOWN NEXT TO JOSIE AT LUNCH with the rest of the Super Squad around them. She kissed Josie's cheek before digging into her lunch. Lizzie and Josie exchanged a look but didn't say anything. Hope had left her a voicemail last night saying that she couldn't make it to movie night with her and Lizzie but left no context.
"Hope, where were you last night?" Josie asked quietly, resting her hand on her girlfriend's thigh. She didn't want to upset her but she wanted at least some answers. She didn't want to think that Hope was cheating on her but she had no idea where her girlfriend was most nights anymore.
"I had to do something for your Dad," Hope replied. She grabbed a strawberry and bit it, not realizing the looks she was getting from Lizzie.
"That's, like, the twentieth time this month. What are you doing?" Lizzie pressed wanting to figure out what was really happening. She had this feeling Hope was lying, for what? She wasn't sure. Hope gave her a confused look. "What are you doing for my Dad that is keeping you away from your girlfriend most nights?"
The conversation at the table died down as Lizzie's voice raised slightly. They looked between the siphoner and the tribrid. "Lizzie..." Josie said, giving her a 'calm down' look.
"I'm scouting the town. I'm making sure that there aren't any Malivore monsters that we've missed," Hope said, answering Lizzie's question. Her phone dinged and she sighed, pulling it out of her pocket.
Can you go buy your sister some chocolate?
Yes, ma'am
Hope smiled slightly before putting her phone away. Stefanie was always on her back about chocolate. Hope knew that most of the time, the chocolate was for Stefanie and not her sister. "I got to go. I'll see you all later," Hope said, giving Josie a kiss before getting up. She slung her backpack over her shoulder.
"Where are you going this time?" MG asked. He too was getting irritated by her leaving all the time. Especially when it made Josie upset. He knew his tone of voice was harsh but he wanted to know what was so important that she was skipping out on them again. "It must be important if you are missing training, right?"
Hope ran a hand through her hair and cursed mentally. She forgot about their training session. They have been having them for the last couple of months so everyone would be ready and have more experience in the self-defense apartment. It was more so Hope, Lizzie, and Josie at the start until the rest of the Super Squad found out and wanted to join. So now every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday they have training.
"I totally forgot about training. I'm so sorry guys. I--" Her phone buzzed again and she sighed taking it out of her pocket.
She's smothering me! God, her motherial instincts are going to be the death of me! Hurry. Up!
