"Girl, yes, he's happy, and I'm happy, you know? So there are no complaints. I love him, and he loves me. It took me a while to accept him and love him the way he deserves, but I'm glad I'm starting again," Leah said, chatting it up with her new friend Tonisha.

"Ugh, I'm so happy for you, y'all give me hope," Tonisha laughed, "but girl Ima let you go. I have to get Jacey ready for this party."

"Okay, remember Mackenzie is allergic to peanuts. NO PEANUTS" Leah yelled so she would remember.

"Baby, that happened one time, and it was an accident. I had no idea baby Mackenzie was allergic to peanuts," she chuckled.

"Well, now you know, please don't send my baby to the emergency room this year," Leah laughed, unlocking her car door.

"Girl-bye, Leah"

Leah laughed and hung up and placed her shopping bags in her trunk. She got in her car and sighed. "I can't believe my baby is turning nine. Next things you know, he's going to college, and Mackenzie will be in high school or something like that. I'm terrible at math," she said, laughing and rubbing her belly, reminiscing about being pregnant. She started her car, rolled down her windows, and drove home.

meanwhile at home

Lucas wet his hair and added Shea butter moisture to it to give it some curls and make it look like something. "Aye, Jamarcus let me look at you," he said, yelling out the bathroom door.

Jamarcus walked out of his room and danced his way to Lucas " you stay dancing," he said, laughing. He fixed his hair and made sure he looked nice.

"Do I have to go ?" Jamarcus asked, mugging (Jamarcus is like eight now; let's pretend he's always been this age, lmao)

"It's your birthday party; we'll have fun,"  Lucas said, fixing Jamarcus's bun.

"But I don't want a party," he said, rolling his eyes

"Aye, man yo, mama wants you to have a party, so you're having a party; get over it."

Jamarcus pouted as Lucas fixed his bun; he focused his eyes on Mackenzie walking and holding on to her toy. Then, finally, Mackenzie came around the corner, babbling and smiling "hi, cutie," Lucas said, reaching to pick her up.

Leah had her baby with Michael a year ago(she's turning two soon). She cut off all contact with Michael after he cussed Jamarcus out, and it took him a long time to calm down from it. He was used to hearing his dad lose his mind, but Jamarcus is getting tired now. Jamarcus and Leah live with Lucas in a three-bedroom home in Charles County, Maryland.

Leah pulled up to the house and saw Jamarcus sitting outside "hey baby, come help bring these bags in the house," Leah said, getting out of the car and walking to the trunk. "You okay, baby ?" she asked, plucking out his bun.

"Yeah, I'm okay, but mommy, do you think dad will call me ?" Jamarcus asked, grabbing  some bags

Leah stared at him and twisted her lips. "I- honestly, baby-" she didn't want Jamarcus to know she blocked her dad, and that's why Michael hasn't been calling his kids.

"Heyyyy looks, who's here," Lucas said, saving Leah from a question she didn't know the answer to, and he carried Mackenzie handing her to her mother. Leah looked at Jamarcus as he looked at his little sister and smiled; sometimes, Leah would find herself staring at Jamarcus cause he looked so much like his dad. It freaks her out sometimes cause Jamarcus acts nothing like his dad.

"Hey, mama's baby," she said, taking Mack from Lucas and kissing him. "I missed my baby so much," she added, holding her up in the air, making Mackenzie laugh, showing off her dimples. Mackenzie reminds Leah of Michael as well but personality-wise before he changed. Baby Mackenzie is always smiling and keeping everyone laughing.

"You need help, little man ?" Lucas asked, grabbing the bags from Jamarcus.

"What's wrong with him ?" Leah whispered to Lucas, following him into the house

"If I knew, I would tell you" He started putting the stuff on the table

Leah placed her hands on her waist, twisted her lips, and looked outside the window at Jamarcus. "Do you think I should let him call Michael? It is his birthday," she stated, putting Mackenzie down.

"So why would he call him if it's his birthday, baby ?" he asked, watching her slowly go from happy to sad.

"Baby-"

"Hey hey hey, " Lucas walked up to her placing his hands on top of her hands, "you're okay, he's okay, she's okay, we're okay" don't cry, baby."

Leah placed her head on his chest and let a few tears drop " but am I wrong for not telling him I blocked him? am I wrong for not allowing him to talk to him ?"

Lucas picked her head up and kissed her forehead. "You're doing what's best for him, the baby, not only him but Mackenzie. If you want him to talk to his daddy to make him feel better, we can make that happen; if not, then we won't worry about it, okay?" he said, hugging her and rubbing her back.

"Do you think he'll hate me ?" she cried.

"of course not, baby," he said, wiping her tears "look, don't overthink it; just ask him what he wants, and we'll go from there, and yes, "we'll" because I'm always going to be here for you" he stated locking eyes with her.

She kissed him and wiped her tears " I love you, Lucas Wright."

"I love you too, Leah Harris" He smiled and gave her a wet kiss

"Lucas, seriously," she said, wiping her mouth

"I know I ain't just see you wipe my kiss away" he grabbed her, leaned her back, and tried to give her another wet kiss.

"Ewww, no," Leah laughed, pushing his face away from hers. "GIVE ME MY KISS BACK" he yelled, laughing at her, trying him out. But, instead, he moved her hands and kissed and licked her lips.

"Oh God, you're so gross," she laughed, starting to wipe her face

"Aht you better not wipe my shit off, girl, or ima smash this cake in your son's face" they both laugh and start putting the food away. Leah was finally happy, and she finally felt normal, especially since Lucas made sure she felt nothing but her best.
