Her Lover’s Boat
The cold wet sand clung to her pale well manicured toes, as the cool salty air whipped through her thick layered dark hair. The women watched as the dim dark blue night sky released the bright yellow, orange, and red rays of the sun. It warmed her cheeks and revealed the green slivers imbedded in her honey brown eyes. The corners of her mouth peeked upward. The sun will bring her love home. Her lover’s small scanty boat, at one time had been white, is a faded gray with a ton of chipped paint and coated in dirt. It was still a good distance away but she could make it out with the suns light.
It had been so long since she and her love had laid eyes on one another. The women fidgeted with clothes, constantly smoothing the already flat clinging fabric of her white soft long low necked dress. Her stomach tightened and danced with worry and anticipation. She transferred the excess perspiration of her clammy hands on to the dress and once again smoothed the fabric. The back of her palm rubbed against her forehead. She then ran her fingers through her hair. She blew her breath in her palm and sniffed. The smell of mint welcomed her which was understandable since she had just brushed her teeth least then ten minutes ago.
The boat neared the dock and her feet took off toward the stairs to the dock. She gulped the salty air filled her open mouth and expanded her lungs. As her legs and arms worked, the distance between the two people decreased. Her body and soul ached to be near her significant other. The ocean waves splashed against her bare legs making at little bit tougher to make it to the dock. She leaped up the six cricking wooden steps of the dock. Her long legs stretched wide in an attempt to go faster. She ran down the dock and meets her lover’s boat coming to an unexpected stop not realizing how close she was to the end.
She stood there and waited and waited. She smoothed her hair and dress once more and waited. She waited and waited and slowly anguish over came her. Her vision blurred. She closed her eyes in an attempt to hold them back the drop lets but one slipped out and kissed her trembling lips.
She felt the soft caress of a rough hand run its self along her sharp but womanly cheek bone and travel down her chin. She smiled because it could be no one but her lover to touch her ever so gently and she knew he was there. She slowly opened her eyes to reveal no boat and no man.
The other piece of her heart was not there. Sadness filled her. The tears that threatened to arrive showed up and glistened in the sun light. The women looked in to the dark murky water of the sea and longed to be with the person that god had created for her. The women’s toes dangled at the edge of to dock. Her body began to sway. It moved with the wind and then the wind pushed her and she let the sea take her. She closed her eyes and she could feel her lover taking her to the bottom of the sea were his body laid.
