Frost tipped the grass, it was very cold, the only thing Twigbranch could scent was her own breath chattering, clumps on ice matted her

gray fur, she carried a scrawny mouse in her jaws, long tail swishing, she stumbled through the wind.

Twigbranch only saw the flurry of snow and no sign of the clan, she walked on, her eyes watering from the cold, then, as if it was a vision,

The trees of Thunderclan showed up before the snow, it was all white, and frozen, but Twigbranch couldn't help but

dart to her home, the prey still in her jaws, she soared clumsily through the lake that was icy.

She stopped to camp, her paws were numb, and her tail was kinked in the middle, the shape of a cat through the snow came pushing his

way to her, "Twigbranch, your back, are you okay?" He asked panicking, "I'm fine, just cold." Twigbranch panted, dropping the

mouse in the unusually small fresh kill pile.

"Twigbranch." A calm voice said behind her, "yeah Squirrelstar?" She asked behind her shoulder, "good job, go warm up, we can't bear to lose

more warriors." She said, "okay." Twigbranch replied, shaking the snow off her pelt, she went through the tall grass and into her den.

Her paws felt like the ice on top of them were melting, and watched the senior warriors tuck

themselves into their dens, their noses were sniffling with the cold,

"Poppyfrost, how was the hunting party?" She asked, the pale tortoiseshell blinked open her eyes, "oh, that...it wasn't good, Ivypool

was bit by a vole, she has to stay in the medicine cat den for a while." She sighed.

"that's terrible, how bad was the bite?" She asked nervously, "so bad it started bleeding." Bumblestripe mewed quietly,

licking one paw, I can't believe Bramblestar is dead, he was a fond, loyal leader. Twigbranch thought.

Her pelt started to warm up, she groomed it until it was fluffy and sheeny.

She watched Poppyfrost doze off into a slumber, "Twigbranch," she heard her mate's voice sound from the den.

"yeah Finleap, what's up?" She asked for the last time, her mouth dry from talking.

"Squirrelstar has sent a patrol, wanna go with me?" He asked, his ears flicking snow off them.

"no, I'm cold enough, but you can ask Finchpaw, she was whining about being too hot in the apprentices den."

Finleap nodded, he thrusted out of the tall grass, forcing down a clump of snow on Twigbranch's paws, "I just got those warm!" She hissed

quietly, trying not to wake the senior warriors, she poked her now wet paw from the icy snow, and shook it.

This leaf bare is going to be harsh...
