Looking at the phone made Raj nervous, he was waiting for that call, it was regarding his dog, Timmy. Raj picked up the phone knowing what to expect. His brother was on the other side and said just two words, two words which had a deep effect on Raj, the words were "he died".
Raj cut the phone without replying and sat alone in his room watching the sun set, he was filled with tears in his eyes as the thoughts of him and Timmy ran through his head. Raj was thousands of miles away from his house and had no one to share his feelings with.
He laid on his bed and remembered the day he had gotten Timmy, a small cute looking white coloured Labrador. He was gifted that by his parents on his tenth birthday. Both him and his brother were very excited after getting him and had named him Timmy, which they felt would suit a cute dog like him. They treated him like he was their third brother and played with him everyday. They felt they had grown up with him and had being good elder brothers to him. He remembered how everyday when he returned from school, Timmy would come running towards him and lick his face.
Once when their family had gone on a vacation for ten days and had kept Timmy in a kennel, they were informed that in the kennel, he was very quite and refused to eat. He would sit at one place and wonder what he had done wrong to end up there. When the family returned and went to collect him, he was so excited on seeing Raj and his brother that he jumped on them and licked them until he felt he was satisfied. Raj too was very happy on seeing him as through out the trip he was worried about Timmy and hoped that the kennel took good care of him.
Raj felt that Timmy was a well mannered dog, he was given training in his earlier days and was made disciplined at a very young age. Whenever the family were visited by guests, he used to welcome them in his own style by shaking his tail and then following them for sometime. Whenever they ate, he used to reach out for his own bowl of food and water and show the others that he too had his own food and liked eating it. He never barked at anyone and was always in a playful mood, especially for children.
As days passed by, Timmy grew old, he turned into an old dog from a small cheerful puppy. Now whenever, he used to be taken for a walk and meet the younger dogs, he used to act like an old grandfather and tell them about his days. This is what Raj felt by looking at them but he never knew what they actually talked about. Soon Timmy started to become weak and used to lie at one corner of the house without much movement. Raj had to leave the country and move abroad at this stage of Timmy's life. He remembered seeing Timmy for the last time where Timmy was confused on why Raj was crying. He had no clue that Raj was leaving.
Two months after Raj's departure, Timmy's health detoriated, he started vomiting and refused to eat, he couldn't move much and would lie in the same position for the whole day. They even took him to the doctor where it was said that he didn't have much time left. Raj was kept informed about his health all along. One morning, Raj got a call from his brother saying that Timmy was not responding and that they had called the doctor. It was today morning that this took place, since then Raj could think of nothing but Timmy and now this call said it all. Raj laid quietly on his bed scrolling through his phone, looking at the photos of Timmy and remembering all the time he had spent with him. Raj did not know how to control his emotions and kept crying. He really missed Timmy.
