I woke up the next morning feeling very safe and warm. I tried to get up but someone's arm was around my waist.

Oh ya, Niall slept over last night.

I turned over so I was facing him, he looked so young and peaceful when he was sleeping. I guess he felt me staring at him because his eyes fluttered open.

"Good morning beautiful " he said with a smile.

"Morning Nialler" I said back planting a kiss on his cheek.

I smiled at him and wiggled out from his grip. When I was finally free and out of bed I looked back at Niall and he had his bottom lip pouted out.

"Stop being such a baby! You have auditions to judge !" I told him.

"Come on love, I'm sure they don't need 5 judges! 4 is enough isn't it? " he said jokingly while finally getting out of bed.

"Ha ha, you are so funny. It's not one direction without the leprechaun ! " I said teasing him.

The friendship grew stronger last night when we admitted our feelings for each other. We weren't dating, and I wasnt expecting to either. I was just glad we finally told each other how we really felt.

I quickly jumped into the shower and washed my face. I stilled cried myself to sleep last night even though Niall was there to protect me. But I always do. I still can't forget what happened to Alice. Some people might think that i would be over it, but when your best friend committed suicide just 2 months ago. Wouldn't you still be extremely upset? I now have to face this big scary world alone.

I got out of the shower, and Niall hopped in to take one of his own. While he was in the shower I picked out what I was going to wear for the auditions.

After 10 minutes of just staring at my clothes I finally just picked something simple. My dark blue jeans with a flannel army shirt and a white v neck tee to go under. I wore the shirt open so it looked cuter and wore a plain silver bow necklace with it. I then slipped on a pair of high top moccasins and looked in the mirror. Cute.

I was just about to do my make up when Niall walked out of the bathroom.

"Don't need make up, to cover up, being the way that you are is enou-ou-ough " he sang to me.

I just rolled my eyes and carried on.

I was next inline to go do my audition. Niall told me he had to pretend like he didn't know me. But he was obviously rooting for me on the inside.

I can hear the girl singing right now and she is really good! Personally I don't think I have the best voice. But people say I'm good, so I guess this is where I really find out.

She finally stopped singing and the boys told her how she did and that they will contact her. Simon also decided to join the judging panel. So now I'm even more nervous.

"Next!" The usher said to me.

I got out of my seat and walked through the doors and into the room where the auditions were being held.

I looked up and saw Niall and Harry smiling at me. The other boys obviously didn't recognize me.

"Hello love, what's your name?" Louis said to me with a smile on his face. " and what will you be singing?" He added.

"Im Scarlett Lawrie. And I will be singing an original song called Never Let Me Go." I said staring at Niall.

"Alright, good luck" Simon said with a straight face.

The music started and it felt like everything was going in slow motion. I looked over at Liam and he was patiently waiting there for me to start. Then I looked at Niall and he had the biggest smile on his face. And now, it's time for me to start.

I closed my eyes and started to sing my favourite song I've ever written.

After the first verse I slowly opened my eyes and saw Simon sit up straighter, Louis with a big grin on his face and Zayns eyes basically bulging from his head.

I now had a little boost of confidence and I started to really get into the song.

The song came to an end. And it felt good. I felt like I did a good job.

"Wow, okay. That was really good. Thank you for coming out." Liam said like he was in shock.

The boys all said something along those lines as well. But Niall's surprised me the most.

"You did an amazing job. That song was perfect, your voice is so unique and intriguing! Keep up the good work!" He finished with an award winning smile and Simon then spoke.

"I think we might have a potential winner here boys! We will call you " he said with smile.

"Thank you!" I said smiling back at the boys and walking out of the room.

When I got out of the room all I was getting was compliments on my voice from the other contestants. Honestly I think I did good, but people were complimenting me like I was Whitney Houston or something! But I took them kindly and kept walking to my car.

I just stepped into the door of my apartment when the phone started to ring.

"Hello?"

"Is this Scarlett Lawrie?"

"Yes? Who is this?" I questioned the man on the other line.

"I am Officer King, Miss. Lawrie, we found your mother. She was found in a ditch on side road 37 dead."
