It's now the 15th and I was finished getting ready for the grand ball. I tried to look my best just in case he might be there. 'I hope he thinks I look nice' I thought to myself. I decided to wear my black long sleeve dress that had beautiful designs made out of gold all around the bottom and the sleeves of my dress. My long lose light brown curls were in a low half up half down hairstyle that had a small touch of gold hair jewelry. " I look decent enough." I said to myself as I walked to the bedroom window. I looked out my window to see that the night sky has fallen upon me giving me a nice site of the millions of stars above me.
"Do I look nice, Iris?" Ethel said as she walked into my bedroom. I look away from my window to see my sister in a long short-sleeved light purple dress, her medium dark brown hair was in a messy low braided bun. The purple dress went nice with her light skin and thin body, the messy low braided bun looked good with her baby face, and her diamond earrings made her dark blue eyes stand out like stars.
"You look gorgeous, Ethel" I said as I wrapped my arms around her thin body. "Thank you Iris, I really appreciated it. I was starting to worry if it was a little to much." She said hugging me back putting her head on shoulder. "There is no such thing as too much of anything." She laughed hugging me tighter. "You might be wrong about that, Iris" " What if I am? At least I lived life by being glorious and not 'proper' as father put it." We both laughed moving away from each other.
"Come on Iris, It's already 7:35 PM we mustn't be late to a grand ball." Ethel grab my arm dragging me out my room to head downstairs. "Are you girls ready? We must leave if we want to get there on time." My father said as he looked at his pocket watch. " Yes we are ready to go, father!" Ethel said as we walked down from the stairs to the hallway. My father looked up from is pocket watch and give us a big smile. " Don't you girls look absolutely gorgeous." " Thank you, father." Ethel said as she run outside to hop into the carriage, I then walked after her not giving my father a glance.
We all finally hop into the carriage and begin heading towards the Devol's Manor. I start to think about the Devol family and their history. The Devol family have been in England for many decades, always being England's number one wealthiest family. People don't really know how they became so wealthy, some say the family gets their wealth by doing lots of big work around the world, but most people say they killed for their wealth.
It's been told that the Devol family has killed hundreds of old and young unmarried wealthy men throughout history. People have said that when a Devol family member has their victim, they kidnap the person and forced them to give them all of their money in exchange for their life. Whether they give them their money or not they still end up being killed. The Devol family has never been arrested for murder, because the officers say there wasn't any evidence.
Even though it's been years since the the Devol family has been accused of murder
I still think they are a dangerous family, but no one seems to care nowadays. "We have finally arrived at the Devol's Manor indeed!" My mother said while dusting off her dress'More like the Devol's horrifying castle' I thought to myself as I looked out the window of my carriage to see a big gray castle illuminating light from the inside. Even though it was dark outside the moonlight brought out the castles hidden details.
"Are we late, father?" Ethel said as she walked out of the carriage. "No Ethel, it's 8:25 PM, we are actually early for once in our lives" Said my father as he begin walking to the front door. My mother and Ethel walk after him, but I waited looking at the large building before following. When we moved close to the front door my father knocked real loud on the door so, whoever was inside could hear it.
