SUMMARY When his father assigned a secretary to watch over his every move, Xingqiu thought his sunkissed, hazy and free days were over. Unbeknownst to him, his stone-faced secretary had more than meets the eye.

"So," the young exorcist brought the pair of intricate chopsticks to his cold lips, biting off the shrimp that was skillfully marinated in butter. He chewed and heaved a satisfied sigh as a harmony flavors danced on his tongue. "How was your time with the new secretary?"
He darted his icy gaze to his dear friend; a blue-haired boy who carried an air of justice and chivalry around him. He is the second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, and the folks in Liyue view him as a kind, good-mannered young man.
Buuuut, when you've been friends for said boy for long, you'll notice he harbors a more... mischievous demeanor that he usually hides.
Chongyun would know, as he is the target of his friend's pranks and whatnots. The chivalrous boy once told him there was a residence reeking of evil spirits, only for the young exorcist to return to the city with a limp, an arm littered with scratches, and an everlasting scowl.
Although an odd pair, they still get along quite well.
Bright, golden irises met with Chongyun's sky-blue ones. A small, discreet chuckle escaped Xingqiu's lips as he swallowed the delicacy in his throat.
"They're... nice," the boy mused, his statement followed by a light, hushed giggle. His slim shoulders followed as he laughed, the feathered tassel in his left ear swaying along.
Hearing the giggle, Chongyun furrowed his brows, his meal slipping from the chopsticks' grip and falling into the hearty bowl of soup.
That laugh... it sounded like a giddy teenage boy.
It wasn't as if it was uncharacteristic for Xingqiu to cackle like a minx; he does so every time he successfully pulls a prank on Chongyun.
But this laugh sounded like he was drowning in admiration.
As thousands of assumptions swirled in the exorcist's head, he nearly failed to gaze upon the stupid grin carving his friend's visage. Not to mention the deep crimson hue enveloping his cheeks.
Oh, Rex Lapis.
Xingqiu is head over heels for someone.
... or something, since he always has his nose buried under the cinnamon scents of books.
"You're smiling," Chongyun inquired in his mild, neutral voice. "Something tells me you've either found a really good book, or you've taken interest in someone. There's no in between."
