Mark paced up and down the room. Amy had given up on calming him down about twenty minutes ago, and was now standing on the side, her eyes following him back and forth.
»I'm going to call him.«
»He's not too late yet.«
Her words caused Mark to stop for a brief second. »We're gonna need to figure out what to shoot, actually shoot it, and get it through editing in,« he glanced at his watch, »a little over four hours. I'm going to call him.«Knowing that she might as well try and convince a race car to stop mid-drive, Amy gave up. The phone rang once, twice.
»Hi yeah Ethan, it's Mark. Where the hell are you?«
She could faintly hear Ethans voice through the speaker. It almost sounded like a cartoon.
»Look I can see the road from here, and there is absolutely no traffic. So get your butt over here already.«He hung up and rolled his eyes. »He'll be here in 20 minutes. But at least I know what we'll shoot today.«
Slightly worried, Amy followed him down the stairs, and into the cellar. A singular chair stood in a spotlight almost as if Mark had prepared it that way.
»On a scale of one to ten, how high is the risk that someone gets hurt today?«
»Aaamy,« Mark responded, stretching the A, »nobody will get hurt. When did we ever do anything dangerous?«
»You literally drank your own pee.«
»It didn't hurt though.« Mark looked at her with puppy dog eyes.
She sighed. »Fine. But be careful, okay? I only have a limited number of ice packs.«When the doorbell rang, Mark jumped up, taking two steps at the time. She could hear their voices from above.
»Look Mark, I'm so sorry. I-«
»Don't worry about it, my friend, I have the perfect idea for today's video. Who cares if it's a little late?«
»You're not mad?« Ethan asked, following him down the stairs.
»Noo, why would I be? Now, if you would sit down right there? Right in that beautiful chair.«Ethan chuckled. »I'm don't like this. Amy?«
Amy shrugged. »I told him not to hurt you.«
»That's...very reassuring.« Despite the nervous look in his eyes, Ethan sat down.
Mark immediately moved over, strapping him in. »You just gotta play along buddy.«
»Play along with what?«
Mark sat up the camera.
»Mark, what am I supposed to play along with?« Ethan asked, laughing anxiously.
Mark turned the light to red, and faced him. »Well, today's video has been late.«
»Y-yeah?«
»And I am a very generous person. But I always strive for perfection, y'see?«
As a dangerous undertone welled up in Marks voice, Ethan hopped onto the idea.
»Mark, you don't have to do this.«
»Shhh. I'm talking.« He circled the chair like a white shark. »Now, I'm not a person to point fingers, but somebody made a mistake, and that's why the video is late.« He finished the circle right in front of Ethan.
»And we need to find a way to prevent something like that happening again.«
Ethan suppressed a smile, and instead put some fear in his voice. »Mark, no...«
Mark raised his fist, pretending to punch Ethan again and again. As soon as they were finished, he sent the footage over to Luís, but not before checking it himself. He looked at it frame for frame, checking every reflection. He needed proof. Proof that the experiment was a success, proof that what he had seen a while ago was real. But alas, Unus didn't show up.
