Table 9, 831 Bar & Bistro
I drink my favorite piña colada as I roam my eyes around the bar. My gaze focused on the stage where my favorite band currently performs. They're now singing their own rendition of The Man Who Can't Be Moved by The Script.
I always give this place a visit after school. It never fails to make me feel better in spite of all the problems I've been enduring from home. Or should I say, house. I'm technically alone now. I lost my family when I was four years old because of a fire accident I caused. As I get older, the agony I suffered from did not lessen even a bit. I was blamed by everyone. The ghost from the past used to haunt me and I had to deal with it. How I wish my life would end, soon. There's no reason for living. This is how I view the world before. Dark.
"Hey, one less lonely girl," said that voice from my right side. I ignored the person who intruded me because I don't wanna talk to anyone. My aunt treats me like hell. If not of my cousin, probably, I will not be sent to college. I live with them so I have to bear all the hardships. My mother's only brother, uncle Gilbert, died five years ago so no one in the family genuinely cares for me, except for Beatrice. She's the one sending me to a state university. Every day, I thank God for bringing her to my life. She's my angel.
With regards to my father's side, I have no idea where his relatives are. I have no choice but staying with aunt Lisa.
"They're my favorite," he said again, now directly looking at my face. He moved at the chair in front of me so he's now blocking my view. "They sound good!"
I gave him a grim look. "What do you want?"
"So what if life's unfair to us? We just have to live with it. Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."
I was stunned.
"Huh?"
He pinched my nose. "Don't wear that frown. Smile! There are many things in life that you'll miss if you continue being a pessimist."
His words hit me.
"W-why are you telling that to me?" I asked him. As a response, he just shrugged his shoulders. "Then who are you?"
"I'm your fairy god father, but you can't wish anything from me," he responded then left me amazed with what he said.
I let out a sigh and realized that I didn't notice him sitting beside me while ago. How could it be? He surely has that charisma to make his presence felt even without moving!
I wonder what his name is...
So, it's where everything started. Every Friday night, I go to 831 Bar & Bistro because it's the day I usually find him there. In the first three weeks, we were like mere acquaintances. However, it did not take long when we finally became more open to each other.
He told me about his family and some embarrassing experiences. Definitely, his anecdotes are priceless. These stories never fail to make my day. Not to mention that we also share the same interest with music and a lot more things. With him, my life turned out to be lighter and happier.
I wished that it would not end.
"One less lonely girl," he said to catch my attention. I am reading Beastly by Alex Flinn.
