Chapter 20 - Training

After just embarrassing all of the avengers in front of the agents around them, Fury showed them the correct direction to where the robotics lab was located. Tony was excited, bouncing a little in Steve's arms since they were going to a robotics lab and he couldn't wait to see what was in there.

"With the number of times you have been in this headquarters, I would expect you to know where everything is by now." Fury says with an amused look on his face as he looks at them.

"I'll be honest, I normally travel through the vents so I don't know exactly where everything is." Clint says, the others looking at him.

"Now we know what's crawling through the vents here and you can apologise to the countless agents that have gone up there to find who or what was in the vents." Fury says with a slight glare.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll do that. Why are you giggling at me Tony?" Clint asked as he looked at the child, who was giggling right at him.

"Uncle Fury says that you call him mean because you get in trouble a lot." Tony says and Clint stares at Fury.

"Really? Did you tell him that? That's not true!" Clint shouts like a child, causing the team to laugh at him and Fury to sigh.

"You're only proving my point Barton." Fury says as they walk to the lab.

Clint frowned and looked at the ground, grumbling a little. Natasha just patted his back gently and leaned over to his ear.

"He probably told him to make him feel more comfortable around him after he shouted like he did." She whispered and Clint sighed and nodded at that.

They soon reached the robotics lab, which was full of mostly what Tony had made for SHIELD to use. Not as advanced as Tony's lab but it was enough to keep them more advanced than their enemies. Tony looked at the lab in awe and Steve placed him on the ground so he could explore the lab. The child instantly began running around and looking at every piece of tech that he could find. Fury watched him and smiled softly, catching every other avenger off guard with the expression. However, the expression was gone quickly since the SHIELD doctors had made their way into the lab.

"Tony. Can you come over here please?" Fury asked, seeing Tony come over with a smile on his face.

That smile went at the sight of the doctors near them. The rest of the team just left this to Fury. They knew Tony would fight a check-up.

"Hey. Don't worry. This isn't going to be bad. They will not hurt you. I'll make sure of it." Fury says as he crouches down to Tony's height. "All they are going to do is look you over. So I know there's nothing bad going on, okay?" He says, seeing Tony nod a little at it.

"Okay...Can I build something as they do it here? I'll be good! Promise!" Tony asked and begged, really wanting to do so.

"Of course. You know you're always allowed to with me around. And I won't tell your dad." Fury says and Tony smiles.

"Yay! Thank you, Uncle Fury!" Tony says and hugs him, before running off to collect some parts and tools so he could start building on one of the desks whilst the doctors checked up on him.

Fury stood back up straight and looked at the team, who all stared at him.

"Wow, you and Tony were definitely close." Bruce says as he looks over at Tony sitting on the desk and already building while the doctors were checking him over.

"I spent a lot of time looking after him. Howard dumped him on me a lot." Fury says as he looks at Tony.

Tony continued to build and was quiet as the doctors checked him over. It was weird to see Tony not fussing over a check-up at all. Even adult Tony fussed when it came to check-ups and medical help.

"What do we do after this? Hydra is certainly going to be looking for him and be attacking quite frequently just to get him back in their grasp." Natasha asked as she looks at the group.

"The child of iron has magical powers. Why not train him how to use the powers? I am sure my brother would not mind helping with the training." Thor suggests and they all look at him.

"Actually, that's not a bad idea. It would help him be more confident with these powers as well." Bucky says, the team nodding at it.

"Wonderful. I shall collect my brother from the tower. However, I will not tolerate if any of the SHIELD brothers attack him." Thor says and crosses his arms.

"Do not worry you big oaf. They will not harm me as I have been disguised as one this whole time." Loki says, causing the team, bar Thor, to jump from the shock of him being behind them.

"So, do you not mind training the child of iron to be able to use his new powers?" Thor asked, hopeful that he would do so, considering he was the only one that had magic.

"Hm. Since this is for the child's safety, I shall do it. I do not want to be locked up at SHIELD afterward." Loki says, staring right at Fury.

"That will be arranged. But if you hurt my Godson, I will find a way to kill a God." Fury warns with a glare.

"I will not harm him. Do not worry." Loki says as he looks over at Tony, heading over to him once the doctors had left them.

"Let's hope that this will help us protect him against Hydra." Steve says and the others nod.

"It will also be good to know what kind of powers he has. We've only seen the energy shield that he can create that can stop projectiles." Bruce says. "If he was truly exposed to the tesseract, there's no telling what other powers he has." He adds.

After some time, Loki finally got Tony to concentrate on trying out his powers. Of course, he used the energy shield again, seemingly managing to be able to summon it at will now and no longer just on fear. That was good progress. But now, Loki seemed to be trying to get him to tap into another power. Tony was trying so hard to get it working until it did.

And a blue wormhole appeared under Loki's feet.
