"Care to explain how you managed to remove this guy's bending skills?" Yoongi spoke as he hovered above Xavier, poking his cheek. It looked like Xavier tried to growl in response, but he only managed to produce a pathetic squeak.
Before I could answer, Jungkook spoke up. "You should've seen the look in his eyes, hyung! It was so cool!"
"I bet it was." Jin chuckled. "But I'm also very curious as to how you did it."
I blinked, taking in the situation. The remainder of the boys had been held captive in the basement of the building. Together with Krystal, Baekhyun and Yuta, Jin, Jungkook and Hoseok had managed to defeat the men outside pretty quickly, before splitting up to clear the building.
The boys held captive were stripped from their bending ability, but luckily the immunity capsules that Hoseok had, managed to restore it. Though, they still felt a bit weak.
As for Krystal, Baekhyun and Yuta, they had been contacted in secret by Sir Tsumin, who had figured that their skill might come good in the mission. He had sent them a message, explaining everything, and asking to trace my movement in Seoul and help out when necessary. I had cried for ages as Krystal hugged me, telling me off for not telling her that I was the avatar.
Now, we sat all together in the hall of the mansion, Xavier tied up onto one of the chairs, slumped over in defeat and lack of energy.
"It's this thing that Sir Tsumin learned me. He wasn't sure it would work since it's an ancient rumour that avatars possess the ability, but he was able to teach me with the old notes he found and using his water bending skills." Jin scrunched his nose in confusion. "The ability to bend doesn't only come from the DNA." I clarified. "You need the mentality as well. Avatars have the ability to block the main channel in the brain required to bend. It's difficult to describe, but I can feel the energy of the bending flow through the body, and I can locate where it comes from in the brain and block it." I shrugged.
"Wow." Taehyung breathed. "That's even more impressive than my ability to feel emotions!"
"I'm not so sure." I bit on my lower lip. "It's a lot of power to have, and it only helps me take things away."
Yoongi huffed. "Yes, and praise the lord for you having that ability. We don't want idiots like Xavier being able to just bend whatever element whenever they like, do we?"
I guessed he was right, but before I could go into it, Namjoon cleared his throat.
"We have bigger fish to fry." He spoke with a serious expression. "We need to head into Seoul again to stop your parents from releasing the gas. We might have the antidote, but I'm not really reassured by the fact that they can easily kill bending citizens if needed."
Oh yeah, that. I inhaled sharply as the anxiety started to engulf me again.
Xavier had told me that our parents had cleverly positioned gas bombs throughout the city, as well as in the central government complex, which they planned to overthrow after setting off the bombs.
"We'll be too late to stop the bombs from going off, though." Jimin noted, to which everyone hummed in agreement, including Xavier.
"We can always use the antidote to return their bending skills later. It's more important to help out the government, so we should head there and fight back the Libertas." Jin suggested, though Namjoon still looked puzzled.
"The civilians won't be able to protect themselves from the attacks, though." He spoke lowly. "There must be something we can do."
"Too risky." Jin stopped him. "We can't split up again. Xavier already posed a real struggle. We need to stay together and combine our forces."
"If it makes you feel better..." Krystal softly interrupted them. "Sir Tsumin let us know that he was assembling another team. I'm not sure we can assume he will use that to protect the bending citizens of Seoul, but I'm confident that he knows we'll be heading to the government."
I was about to smile at her revelation, only to be shut down by Namjoon again. "Doesn't matter what elite team they gather, they won't be immune. They'll all loose their bending." He deadpanned.
"Shut up, party pooper." Yoongi sighed, exasperated. "Sir Tsumin is not dumb. Without his help we would probably not even be alive anymore. Gabi for sure wouldn't." He jabbed his thumb into my direction, making me gulp. "He'll have masks." Yoongi shrugged.
Namjoon face-palmed himself. "Of course." He nodded, recomposing himself. "Right, there's plenty of vehicles outside, we'll split up in two groups and drive to the government complex right away, sound good?"
Everyone nodded in silence, waiting for him to go on.
"Once we're there, we should head straight to my dad's office, since I'm sure he'll be the culprit of your parents shenanigans." He shot me a brief look. "As long as we prevent him from being overthrown, we still stand a chance."
Everyone nodded again, allowing Namjoon to divide us into groups while I tried to steady my breath.
"Hey!" Xavier squeaked from his position. "What about me?"
"We'll worry about you later." Namjoon deadpanned. "For now, feel free to make yourself at home in the same room that the boys were kept hostage in." He turned around to Yoongi. "Put him in the cell. Make sure to wrap him up tight, and do everything you can to shut him up."
Yoongi smiled at that, exposing all of his pearly teeth as he didn't even bother to hide the pleasure he would get out of torturing Xavier for a bit. "With pleasure." He smirked to Xavier, who watched him with wide, terrified eyes.
"Please, no, don't, that's really not necessary." Xavier's whining quickly died as Yoongi dragged him down the stairs, Hoseok and Jimin following closely behind to help out.
I watched it all with an absent gaze, still not having succeeded at steadying my breath.
Facing Xavier was intense, but having to fight my parents too? It was all too much. I could try to take away their bending ability away, like I did with Xavier. But it wasn't easy, and very exhausting. I wasn't sure whether I could do it again, let alone in an hour.
"You ok?" Jungkook spoke softly, nudging you from the side.
"Fine." I said, a bit too quickly. "Who am I kidding." I sighed in defeat, trying not to crumble under Jungkook's piercing, but caring gaze. "I'm shitting myself, again."
Jungkook nodded, understandably. "Of course you are." He shot me a reassuring smile. "But we're all together now. We'll be there to support you." His big arms reached out to put me into a comforting hug.
I took another big breath, taking in his words, knowing he's right.
"Thanks, Jungkook." I spoke softly into his chest, wishing he would never let me go. "I love you." I spoke, almost inaudible, but he could definitely hear it, because his hug tightened even more around me.
"I love you too, Gabi."
