I stepped into my house, my teeth chattering as I took off my purple, fuzzy scarf. Then I removed my blue North Face coat. Today was the day I was going to tell my moms about myself going to a summer camp. The two were not at all used to me being away for home so there was an expectation for them to try and all me out of it or at least sadness.

"Mom? Ma?" I called, walking to the living room that a fire place was heating the room up.

My mom's name was Cara. She had brown eyes and red hair with a friendly, empathetic personality. My ma was Lily and her blonde hair fell to her shoulders perfectly, with her green eyes always smiling. Ma was the more concerned one of the two for me.

"Hello Maxi! How was your walk around town?" Ma asked, keeping her eyes focused on her sewing project which was a stuffed squirrel holding an acorn.

"Good, a bit chilly. Fall is already here." I said smiling, "Also I have an announcement."

Mom looked up, taking off her reading glasses and setting down her newspaper, "Did you get a bae? Wait.. it's bae right? Is that how you kids say it these days?" She smirked.

I rolled my eyes, laughing. Mom was always trying to keep up with the "new slang" and technology. It was extremely difficult to show her how to use a smart phone. "No, I didn't sadly. I have my One Direction posters.. who needs friends when you have a fandom?"

"Maxi don't go there again. Seriously. We both like Larry. now continue on to your announcement." Ma said.

"Well," I started, staring down at my ripped jeans and converse, "This summer, I've decided to go to a summer camp. And before you try to talk me out of it, it's my intention to go there."

My mom's brown eyes showed concern as she reluctantly put on a smile. A lock of hair fell over her eye and she brushed it away, the fake smile still there.

"I'm ok with it I guess. I'll mis you dearly, but if Lily is okay with it, you can go.."

I looked over at her and he was frowning and he set her project down and at up a little straighter.

"Well you're growing up so I'm saying yes because you deserve it hun. You've been doing you're best in school lately so as a reward, yes" Ma said, going over to me and mom for a group hug.
