Evelyn walked through the door, agitated after a long day of school. She hurried through the house and up the stairs to the room she and Jack shared. The girl dropped her bags on the floor and flopped onto the bed. She buried her face into the pillows and screamed as loud as she could, trying to rid her body of the day's frustration.
Jack walked in the door only a few minutes after Evelyn did, Corbyn and Daniel walking closely behind. They were talking about a new song they had been working on that day when they heard Evelyn's muffled scream. The boys looked between one another,
"What the hell was that?" Corbyn asked, looking around them. Jack's eyes went wide,
"Shit." He said, turning around quickly to walk up the stairs, "Ev?" He shouted when he reached their bedroom, "What's happening? Are you okay?" Worry had overcome his body. Evelyn raised her head from the pillows, her eyes were red, and her lips swollen. "What happened hun?" Jack asked his girlfriend, sitting down beside her.
"I had a bad day ." The girl stated, not wanting to make eye contact with her boyfriend.
"Tell me about it." He replied, adjusting himself so he could look at her face.
"I don't even know where to start. Everything today was just so frustrating. I couldn't pick out sounds and pitches, remember the stupid kid, Ben, that I told you about?" She asked. Jack nodded his head, "Well he was being a complete dick today. Everyone could tell I was having a bad day, most people stayed out of my way but fucking Ben. He had to rub it in my face that I was screwing up. Because he's so -" Evelyn's voice came to a sudden halt as Jack grabbed her face and brought his lips to hers. He could feel her body relax as he pulled away. "What was that for?"
"I just love you." He smiled,
"I love you too Jack." She smiled back at her boyfriend. She saw Jack's eyes grow wider, and his body fill with excitement.
"Corbyn!" He shouted. Jack smiled and looked between his girlfriend and the door, "Corboner!" He shouted again.
"What Jack, whatever could you want from me?" Corbyn asked, poking his head in the doorway.
"Can you get me and Milady the ice cream from the freezer?" Jack asked in a posh accent, Corbyn rolled his eyes,
"You're lucky I like Evelyn," Corbyn started, "Otherwise I'd throw something at you." Corbyn shook his head and trudged down the stairs. The sound of Jack and Evelyn's laughter finally filling the house again.

"We are so close? What next?" Zach shouted, getting excited about the song that was finally coming together.
"Oh! Oh! I know!" Daniel exclaimed

The four of them stared at Daniel, "I'm not thinking that," Evelyn said, "Why don't we keep it in our back pocket though?" Daniel rolled his eyes,
"I don't see you coming up with anything."
"Actually, how about this" Evelyn smiled,

Zach smiled, "Then," he said, "How about something like you still miss him doing that." Evelyn nodded her head,

"Yes!" Zach shouted.
"Then you'd go into the chorus," Corbyn stated, and started playing the chorus, "And then the bridge." The boy looked up from his guitar.
"This is coming along really well Ev." Daniel stated, "I was nervous when you called, I didn't think this melody was going to work out." They all chuckled and moved into the living room for a break.
"How is Jack doing?" Evelyn asked, bravely.
"He's doing okay." Jonah nodded his head,
"Where is he anyway? Is he not wondering where you guys are?" Evelyn responded,
"He's actually in Hawaii," Zach stated, "He's visiting Lav." Evelyn smiled, Lavender had just been little when the two got together. She must be nearly three now.
"I've seen videos of them," Evelyn smiled, "he's a good dad." The boys nodded in agreeance,
"He hasn't been with anyone else if you're wondering," Zach said.
"What?" Evelyn questioned the boy,
"yeah," Jonah confirmed, "I think he misses you."
"No." Evelyn said, "I don't think that's the case." she felt awkward all of a sudden, "he fell out of love with me, I don't think he could miss me like that." She shook her head, there was no way.
"Well," Daniel said, "Whatever it is Jack might be internalizing, He is okay. He is healthy and He's writing good lyrics." This made Evelyn laugh,
"No more bad brains?" she joked. The boys laughed, remembering Jack's old nickname. Daniels phone started to Buzz,
"Speak of the devil." He chuckled, answering the phone and stepping out of the room.
"So," Evelyn said, "I have a performance tomorrow. It's kind of small, for a benefit concert being put on. I was wondering If you guys would like to come?"
"We wouldn't miss it Ev," Corbyn spoke for the group,
"I already told Daniel, but I would like you guys to come too." She smiled,
"Are you going to sing the new song?" Zach asked,
"No," she said, "It's not finished, and It doesn't even have a title." The boys collectively nodded their heads,
"What are the working titles?" Jonah asked,
"Well," the girl started, "In my book, it's called 'Jack's Song', but I think I would have t change it If I ever produced it and put it on an album or something. I was also thinking of '1:58' or 'Last Kiss'" she explained,
"I honestly like them all." Corbyn said, "Jack's Song' sounds so raw and personal, but '1:58' is like, a specific time, and 'Last Kiss' Is sad and heartbreaking."
Daniel came back after a few minutes and sat with the group. They laughed and told jokes just like in the old days. The boys had to leave early for meeting and recording, but they promised that they'd be at the show the next night. She said goodbye to the boys and shut the door behind them. She felt good and ready to finish her song.
