Chapter 10: Jake

"Guess who called me?" I said glancing over at Blake who was clenching his seat belt and wincing in pain. He looked at me with tormented eyes before he quickly undid the seat belt and relaxed a little.

"Who?" He asked curiously,

"Ashley's at your house and she told me your parents were flipping out and that she has to talk to me about Celeste..." I said and Blake sighed,

"That annoying girl that you dumped like three weeks ago?" He asked and I nodded.

"What could she possibly have to say? Celeste is hot, she's not." Blake said and I bit my bottom lip.

"You think Celeste is hot?" I asked and he nodded,

"Yeah she's hot...She doesn't even realize how beautiful she is." Blake said tapping his finger against the dashboard of his car. I looked at him with slitted eyes,

"You like her?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Nah...She's your girl." He said running his fingers through his messy blonde hair.

"It's okay if you like her I'm not gonna do anything to you." I said and he laughed,

"I'm not scared of you bro and no I just think you're lucky." He said itching his leg and then leaning back.

"If I could give you a girl like Celeste, I would." I said and he smiled.

"Too late now all I can do is imagine." Blake said leaning back. I looked at him,

"I'll find you a girl." I promised and he shook his head,

"So I can die and leave her with a broken heart? No thanks." He said leaning his head against the window and trying to fight closing his eyes.

"Thanks for everything Jake. I'm so glad I got to meet you and be a brother to you. I'm sorry...tell everyone I love them..." He said in a tired, barely there voice.

"I love you too Blake..." I felt tears in my eyes as I looked at him and he looked at me with slitted eyes.

"Good...bye" He whispered before his eyes went lifeless and his whole body slumped down. Tears fell from my eyes as I pulled over,

"Blake? Blake?! Please wake up!" I shook him and he didn't flinch or move. He just turned paler and paler, colder and colder.

"Blake...please." I whispered before grabbing my phone and dialing Blake's mom's number. She answered quickly and I couldn't stop crying as I tried to tell them. They could barely understand me so I took a deep breath and said it as best as I could. "Blake...he's gone." I cried and they told me to calm down so I could to the hospital and meet them there.
