Jay took a deep breath walking on the streets of Egerton's town. Ilma chuckled seeing him like this, "Sir, how does it feel being out in the town after so long?"
Ever since Jay came to Egerton's Mansion, he mostly stayed in the house. But finally, after the streets were cleaned and there was something like a sewage system.
As more and more of Lady Vivian's sisters came. The speed at which the project progressed increased.
Even Ilma liked to come to the town for a walk more, not only her, even the townspeople and the knights were full of praises for Lady Emily.
Jay glanced at the people walking past him - each one avoided him whenever they saw him, "Why are they acting like that?"
"Oh, they think you are an aristocrat, so they don't want to get in your way or inconvenience you." She looked down, her steps slowed down, "I shouldn't even be walking beside you."
Jay scoffed, then chuckled, "walk with me. That is an order."
Ilma smiled brightly, "Yes, My Lord." While they walked towards the market.
Today was the market day, so most of the shops were closed today. Walking on the streets, Jay watched the items on the stalls. He needed to get an idea of all that was available here.
Sierra was not only a magician but also an Alchemist. She was able to create many things that Jay wanted. Emily had a headache for a few days after seeing them.
They had a lot of potentials - but if they sold any one of those. King would get greedy and ask for the method of making them. At the end of the day, it would only help King become more powerful.
Sierra was happy with the fact that she was the only one who could create those things. She had something to offer in return for the shelter Emily was providing.
So although they couldn't sell it openly, there were different ways of selling it.
Jay squatted, picking up a skin-colored slab, "Ah, Sir Good Eye! That is a soap - if you use it to bath, not only will you become cleaner, but also smell good the whole day!" The seller said with a happy grin on his face.
"Oh, how did you get your hands on it?" Jay asked.
The salesman said, maintaining the grin, "It is said that those from other lands have brought this product in bulk."
"I see...I'll take two." He said, putting a bronze coin on top of the items.
Ilma looked confused as they shopped, "Lord, we have many of those - why would you buy them?"
Jay had a calm smile on his face, "Don't you like it when things go your way?"
Ilma tilted her head innocently, "Yes?"
Jay smiled patted her head, "of course you do...So, do I."
Jay looked around the whole town - most were two-story houses. Some had shops on the ground while they lived above. But because today was the market weekend, so most shops were closed. Other than that, it was a small town.
Lam Egerton might have become a Viscount, but he was just a baron before. But the town didn't get the time to grow with his increase in rank.
There were barely a thousand people here and living healthily because of Emily's governance. Even so, Lam Egerton took a lot of taxes.
Well, it didn't matter - with Emily, Sierra, he planned to create a network. A chamber of commerce of kind that could get him money and the information he needed.
