I didn't really  want to discuss the recent events but Bells refused to drop the subject.

"Romy!" She was frowning at me, she'd asked me another question and I was miles away again.

"What?" I groan, flopping back onto her bed.

"Do you like Damien?"

I hesitate for a minute, and reach for her pillow to cover my face.

"Not like that."

"Why?!" She moaned sitting on the bed next to me. I sigh, trying to block her out again.

"He's good looking, nice, smart and he LIKES you. As I always say, meant to be." She sings the last part. I had no real reason to not consider him as someone more than a project partner, but I wasn't about to get ahead of myself based on infromation from Low Matthews.

"Bells. You're jumping to conclusions here. He hasn't even asked me out!" I pull the pillow away from my face and smack her with it. She doesn't falter.

"He clearly wants to! You've just scared him off a bit..."

My dramatically drop my jaw.

"I scared him off? I think you'll find your night in shining armour scared him off."

"He did n-"

"Bells. Don't be dumb, he butted in when he didn't need to. You know that."

She groaned.

"Ok. He was a bit over the top."

I nodded and sighed, lying back on her bed. She lay down next to me and turned her head to the side.

"I'm sorry Romy."

I turned my head to face her.

"For?"

"If I hadn't called over at Damien none of this would have happened."

I shook my head.

"This happened because Benji has bad aim." This was maybe partially her fault but she was my best friend and I didn't like her feeling guilty.

"No, I encouraged you to play." She mumbles.

"Fine. If it makes you feel better this is all your fault and I now hate you. That better?"

"No." She sat up, pulling me up and off of the bed. I laugh, and fling the Scream DVD at her.

"Shit horror time?" I ask.  She crawls over to the DVD player and puts the disk in.

********************************

Why I agreed to watch this with Bells. I'll never know, I'm ok with horror films, like them even. They don't bother me that much. Sure, I jump when a severed head pops into view but I'm not a screamer. I wish I could say the same for Bells. She was sat, rocking back and forth hugging her knees, with her eyes glued to the screen but making sure the majority of her long black hair was infront of her face. Her scream tally was approximatley 32.

This did also, make life all the more fun for me. I was lying on her bed behind her and decide to seize the perfect opportunity to scare her out of her skin. I reach out and tap her shoulder. She shrieked, jumps in the air, taking the bowl of popcorn with her so it scattered the entire room like rain with whatever was left inside.

I was now in fits of laughter and couldn't help but laugh harder when I saw the look of sheer terror plastered on her face behind her hair.

"ROMY!" She cried pouncing on me and slapping her arms around, typical girl fighting.

"Sorry..." I gasp, clutching my sides.

"It's not funny!" She protests crossing her arms.

"Anyone would have found that funny." I said beggining to breath steadily again.

She turned away from me and started hunting for the remote through the river of popcorn. I knelt on the floor and join the search.

"Aha!" she cries triumphantly, pulling out something from under the popcorn.

"Ow. It's your stupid phone." She tosses it to me.

I sat back for a moment while she continued to search so I could check my phone.

4 notifications

I had three texts;

One from Mum: you ok? What time you think b home tmz?

I let her know I'll be back around two.

The other two were from Damien.

Hey, I feel really bad about earlier with Low and all that crap. Just ignore what he said. x

Um actually well don't ignore it. Cos its not really, entirely crap. What do you think..I guess? yeah you know what I mean. x

I sat there for a few moments, he'd sent those texts at 5 and it was 8 now. He probably thought I was ignoring him, but I'm not so I should reply, right?

"You look a bit confused." I glanced up at Bells who was now rewinding the film to where we were last watching.

I hand her my phone, this is when having an over the top best friend came in very helpful.

She read the texts at least four times before handing me my phone. I look at her expectantly.

"You need to reply with something subtle."

I frowned at her.

"You know, um. Say 'don't worry about earlier I'm not bothered.'"

"You don't think that sounds a bit like I'm ignoring his question?"

"Exactly, if he really wants you, that should make him really fess up his feelings."

"Oh." Having zero confidence but putting full trust into her I send him that.

"Whose Ashton?"

"What?" I answer, instantly lost.

"Facebook notification I took the liberty of reading for you which you got this morning."

"Oh yeah" I checked my phone and sure enough the friend request was still there.

"He just added me and I don't know whether or not to accept."

"He's cute. Add him." she said, as though completely uninvested in the Damien feeling fess up text less than one minute ago.

"But I don't know him." I protest.

"So? It's not like he's going to talk to you. It's Facebook. People add anyone just to have a bigger friends list."

Seeing sense in that I thought for a few more seconds before pressing accept, as Bells press play. Almost instantly screaming.
