I took a deep breath and walked onto the bus, guitar case in hand. I was about to audition to be part of my favorite band.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the one and only Ray Toro. He gave me a warm smile and shook my hand politely.
"You must be Andreya. May I call you Andy?" He asked, still smiling.
I nodded and fiddled with my guitar case nervously. This all was scaring me. Ray seemed to notice.
"Hey, calm down. We're all friends here. I'll go get the rest of them. Wait here," he, to my surprise, gave me a tight hug before rushing off.
I sat down in a small little chair and took out my prized guitar, tuning it slowly.
I fixed my hair and gave myself a once over. My black skinny jeans with holes at the knees were fine, my vans were fine. I removed all wrinkles from my black and white flannel button down.
"ALRIGHT! LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH!" I heard a voice say, followed by a deafening clap. I jumped and sat back, waiting to see their faces.
Sure enough, it was Frank Iero, rubbing his hands together expectantly. When he saw me, his smile lessened.
"You're a chick," He gasped. I snorted.
"Nooo, really?" Sarcasm dripping unexpectantly from my words.
"Woah. Sorry. I just... expected you to be a guy, I guess," He scratched his head. I shrugged.
Before I could say anything, Gerard and Mikey, followed by Ray walked into the room. I turned away and laughed nervously.
"Sooo.... Andy, is it? Hi. I'm Gerard Way. You can just call me Gerard. You'll be trying out for.... Guitar, yes? Well, let's see it," He said very seriously. It slightly intimidated me.
"Okay. Umm... I also wanted to try out for background vocals, so... I'll be singing Dead! If that's alright," I said.
Gerard placed a hand on his chin and nodded slowly. This guy was way too serious.
I cleared my throat and began strumming my guitar with my thumb. I closed my eyes and recited the lyrics, pouring my very soul into every word.
Before I could finish, Mikey started clapping. I jumped and looked up at him.
"Wow.... just wow. You're in!" He said. I smiled, wondering of he was being serious.
"Hell yeah, you're in!" Gerad said happily, scaring me. I smiled and put my guitar away.
I packed all my clothes into the suitcase. I put my MP3 player into my pocket and ran to the tour bus parked in my driveway.
The door opened and I was greeted by Frank, who was smiling.
"Welcome to MCR, Andy," He smiled. I smiled back and walked up the steps to my new home.
"This is your bunk," Ray told me, pointing at a small slot in the wall covered by a curtain. I nodded slowly.
"Where do I put my things?" I asked.
"Oh... just.... Sit them inside until further notice," He shrugged. I thanked him and threw all my bags into my little bunk.
