The City of Darkness

III: Devices!

Shard woke up chained to a wall. He looked around at the walls to find a multitude of weapons that he knew were going to be used on him. Shard fumbled with the chains as he looked onto the gloomy darkness ahead.

The girl came out of the shadows and held a chainsaw in her hand. "Hello Shard. It's nice to see you're awake."

"You..." Shard said grimly.

"My name is Alice. Alice II." Said the girl.

"Tell me...why did you capture me and say that you'll torture me?"

Alice II's chainsaw started up with a roar. "I'll tell you....if you can survive my terror. MWA-HA-HA-HA-HAA!!!" She dashed at Shard with blood red eyes.

Meanwhile in the outer world...

In the outer world, time moved slower, as the mind has higher speed in processing. Shard has only been asleep since Pierce, Sky, and Leah came home for an hour, while in the mind it's been seven hours.

"He should have been up by now..." said Sky, who had her head on Shard's pillow.

"Careful, Sky. He could sneeze on you.." said Pierce.

"He has a fever, not a cold." Said Leah. "Still, why isn't he awake?"

"Maybe the fever got worse?" Said Pierce.

"Maybe..Pierce, ice if you will..." said Sky. Pierce left to go downstairs for ice. Meanwhile, Shard began to move in his sleep. In the bed, he kept on shuffling like he was having a bad nightmare. He started moaning in pain and screamed. Sky held his hand, and with tears in her eyes said; "Come on, Shard...wake up, please!"

Leah looked at Shard and Sky, and then remembered an old device in the storage room. She ran to get it, and came back a few minutes later with a cart of tech stuff on it.

"This item will allow us to enter Shard's mind. We'll be able to see what he's thinking or dreaming about. It's called the Omni-Neuro Transport System!" Sky, Pierce, and Leah stepped on a small pad that was put on the floor, and entered Shard's mind. Their outer bodies however, just like Shard's were asleep. Almost like a dreamscape.

The three warped into an empty space of orange and blue skies and stars. There was a silver and red door in front of them. "That's the entrance. Let's go!" Said Leah. The three girls opened the door and fell into the darkness behind it.
