It was the September 1st, 1972 and Remus Lupin had just arrived at king's Cross station with his parents to begin his second year at Hogwarts. After making amazing friends in his First year, he was excited to be going back. They got to Platforms 9 and 10, his Parents walked through the barrier with him into the rather busy Platform 9 ¾. He smiled seeing the scarlet train in front of him, before seeing one of his friends, James Potter. He walked over to him, letting his Father take his belongings to be put on the train.

"Hey, James how was your summer?" He asked as their parents talked amongst themselves.

"Not too bad Remus, we have been in London for the last few weeks, as my Mother wanted to go on a last-minute trip." He smiled. "How about you do anything fun?" He asked.

"Yeah, it was..." Remus trailed off thinking. There had been a couple full moons over the summer holidays, the most recent had been quite bad. He had a new scar across his back and really didn't want his three friends, who he shared a dormitory with, to see. He realised he was starring off into space deep in thought and shook his head.

"We went to Spain; my Mother's family have a house over there with a pool and stuff it was really fun." He said as the whistle was blown for them to board the train.

The two boys hugged their parents saying goodbye before getting onto the Scarlet train and finding somewhere to sit. They soon found somewhere to sit and stood at the window waving to their parents as the train pulled out of the station. Once they were out of sight the two sat down talking about classes they were excited for. James was particularly looking forward to being able to play quidditch, he went on and on the previous year about wanting to be a chaser for the Gryffindor team. Remus didn't care for quidditch so much, he would rather have his head in a book reading or be practicing spells. Luckily for him their other friends Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew walked in to where they were sitting. The other two boys sat down, Sirius opposite Remus and next to James, Peter was next to Remus opposite James.

Remus couldn't help but look at Sirius thinking about how perfect he was, his dark black hair just falling past the tops of his ears, his grey eyes looking sad yet so perfect. He realised he was starring at him and picked up his book to keep him from starring more. The other three boys talked, though it was mainly James and Sirius. They were much more outgoing than the other two, breaking many rules the previous year at Hogwarts. They had also managed to drag Remus and Peter into their antics causing the four of them to end up in detention on several occasions. Remus had received a few angry letters from his Mother but nothing as bad as Sirius after they had been sorted.

Sirius Orion Black was from the pure blood, noble house of Black. His family had always been sorted into Slytherin, a house which valued ambition, cunning, leadership and resourcefulness. Sirius however, had been sorted into Gryffindor, a house which valued courage, chivalry and determination. Getting sorted into Gryffindor had caused outrage from his family, his parents were disgusted by the sight of him. He had received a rather awful howler from his Mother and Father no more than two days after he had arrived at school. He was glad to have James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew by his side. The four boys had all been sorted into Gryffindor and were in the same dorm together, making them become great friends. Sirius' Younger brother Regulus was starting at Hogwarts that year, his family were sure he wouldn't be a disappointment like Sirius and that he would be sorted into Slytherin. Sirius was really worried about it all at first but after some 'reassurance' from James he felt a bit better.

The four boys sat on the train together talking, mostly James and Sirius while Remus read a book and Peter was eating. James and Sirius were thinking of new ways to prank Severus Snape, known to them as Snivilus, the boys had picked him out as someone to pick on. Severus was good friends with Lily Potter, a muggle born Gryffindor, who had caught James' eye a number of times since they started attending Hogwarts the previous year. She was often the one to get James and Sirius to leave Severus alone if she was around when they decided to torment him.

The train continued on the long journey to Hogwarts, about halfway through the journey the doors on their compartment slid open and a short plump lady stood there with a trolly full of snacks and treats.

"Anything off the trolly dears?" She asked the group of boys. James, Sirius and Peter all jumped up eagerly getting all sorts of stuff to share. Remus shook his head and ate some chocolate. His three good friends weren't going to take no for an answer though, they bought his favourite snacks and out them on the seat next to him.

"You can't just eat chocolate all the time Lupin." James said and they sat down again. Remus smiled and picked up a pumpkin pasty from next to him. He was grateful for how much care his friends showed towards him. He had really missed them over the summer. His mother was very fond of him even with him being a werewolf but his father not so much. It wasn't that he hated or mistreated Remus but had often seemed more disappointed than his mother. His father was a wizard and a very good one at that. His mother, on the other hand, was a muggle. Remus had been teased and called a half-blood along with a number of other names for having a muggle parent, he didn't care though, he loved his mother, and it didn't bother him or his friends at all.

The boys relaxed for the rest of the journey until they finally arrived at Hogwarts. They were all tired and hungry, but all seemed pretty happy to be back. They went to their dormitory and sorted a few things before heading to the great hall to watch the sorting ceremony. The only person not looking forward to this was Sirius. He was dreading seeing the smug looks from Narcissa, his cousin, and of course Regulus as he got sorted into Slytherin. Although he was the only Black not to make it into Slytherin, Sirius' eldest cousin Andromeda had been disowned by the family after marrying a muggle born, Ted Tonks. Andromeda sent Sirius records from muggle bands which he absolutely loved. He didn't get to see her anymore but she sent letters and records via the muggle postal service so Sirius' parents wouldn't find out.

The boys made it to the Great hall and sat down together waiting as thefirst years came in. They watched the scared looking 11-year-olds stand in a veryunorderly group together, the sorting soon started. When Regulus was called up,he walked up to the front looking confident and the hat shouted 'Slytherin'before it was even completely on his head. He glared a Sirius before walkingover to the Slytherin table and sitting down next to Narcissa and a few of theolder student, who he was quickly introduced to.
