Spencer hadn't been inside of a car in forever. He drove her to his house, and she honestly couldn't understand why he was offering her a place to stay, buying her a dinner meal, and all that. They were strangers.

"Make yourself comfortable," he encouraged, rustling through his closet for a short moment. He pulled out a light blue, long-sleeved shirt, with a navy blue anchor printed on it. Handing it to her, he offered a long gaze and a sweet smile. "You need pajamas, right?"

She nodded her head before lifting her top off, and then tossing it to the ground. Toby looked away, stunned by what was happening. He felt lightheaded and dizzy for a moment. He didn't want her to get the wrong idea about who he was if he stared at her.

"I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," she quietly said.

"I'm not," he informed her, shaking his head. "I just didn't want you to think I'm watching you. There's a bathroom over there that you can change in, you know."

"Why are you helping me?" Spencer asked, letting her ripped old jeans fall to the floor as well. She was left in the baggy shirt that he had given her, as well as lacy black underwear. His eyes flickered down, and then back up to meet her chocolate brown eyes.

"There's enough humanity left in me to spare what I have for someone else," he said, smiling at her. "It gets lonely out here. Big city, big house. One guy. I wanted company, and you needed a place to stay. I guess we're both actually getting something out of this."

Spencer looked up at him and asked, "What's your life like?"

He seated himself down on the bed before explaining, "I work in a big business company. I've made a lot of good money out of it. It's not the most fun job. I don't have that many friends from it. My girlfriend left me with no explanation. I live alone now. I loved her a lot. I thought she loved me, too."

"I had a serious boyfriend in college. He was everything to me, but then it all went wrong. I don't like to talk about it, but here I am, sharing this with you," she said, laughing quietly.

"Did he leave you?" Toby asked.

Spencer shrugged and said, "Something like that. It wasn't a typical break up. But I don't want to get into the details. It's a long story."

"Believe me, I know a long story. What was his name?" Toby curiously asked, gesturing for her to sit next to him on the bed.

"Tyler," she responded. "But anyways, I lost all the money I had. I graduated from college, but I was too upset over my loss to try and get a real job. I worked some shifts at restaurants. Without everything I had, I felt like I couldn't accomplish anything anymore. Everything felt over."

"Things are far from over," Toby told her. "I don't know what your ex-boyfriend did to you, and you don't have to tell me anything, but I'm going to help you get back on track. Your life still has so much purpose. There are so many things you can do in life, so don't ever forget that. Don't lose hope."

"God, I want to kiss you right now."

Toby stared at the floor for a moment. Did she really just say that? His heart was beating so fast. He didn't know what to say.

"Spencer..." he muttered. "I'm going to go change into my pajamas."

She felt rejected. He got up from the bed, picking up a pair of plaid pajama pants as he entered the bathroom. She heard the sound of him changing clothes. When he emerged from the bathroom, he was sans-shirt. There was a smirk on his face.

"I was thinking," he said, approaching the bed. "I'm freaking dying to kiss you right now, too."

"What?" she asked, confused.

He sat on the bed, and planted his lips right on hers. His hands tangled into her brown hair, running through it. She ran her hands down his muscular chest, tracing her finger down his abdominal muscles. He was defined. Before she knew it, they were making out on his bed. He pushed her down dominantly, hovering over her as they kissed.

One second they were strangers, and the next second, they were hooking up. She didn't know how this would change their relationship, since she was supposed to be the guest staying in his house. If things turned out badly, she was really hoping that he wasn't planning on kicking her out or something.

Time passed, and clothes were appearing all over the hardwood floor, scattered. Her lips kissed down his neck. His hands touched her in every place possible. The heat between them was real. The passion was stronger.

They didn't do a whole lot of talking that night.
