"Okay, it's 2:24. Are you tired?" Calum asked me, putting his phone back on the table and pulling me into his lap.

I giggled airily, shaking my head no. "Noo, that's like, early for me.." I said, earning a laugh from him.

"If you say so," He didn't sound fully convinced, but I'm guessing he just didn't want to go to sleep.

Calum's fingertips ran over my arms, causing goosebumps to raise on my skin. They went over my forearm, and my breath caught in my throat. His hands moved, his arms now wrapping around my waist and hugging me from behind. My lips pressed into a straight line, knowing he would ask sooner or later.

"Do I have to ask?"

"Well.." I rolled my right sleeve up, showing only a few raised scars and some barely visible ones. The most visible went straight across my wrist, and it was raised.

"I'll tell you the story another time, I don't want to ruin the night with it, considering this is going okay." Calum's grip tightened, and he rolled my sleeve back down, burying his face in my neck. He placed a few feather light kisses there, nodding.

"Alright, that's fine love." He softly said, not pushing any further.

"So what's your story?" I asked, changing the subject.

"You know my story."

"No, I know the depressing parts. What about the good parts? Before your dad died, before all the bad. Your childhood. Like, what made you want to play hockey?" My question made him smile. I couldn't see it due to the dark, but I knew it was there.

"When I was eight, my dad took me to my first hockey game. The Bruin's were playing the maple leaves at home, and he had good seats. I got my first jersey there, a Rodriguez jersey. I'd seen games on TV before that, but nothing will ever compare. I got this feeling inside, it was like eating your favorite food, listening to your favorite song and watching your favorite movie, the feelings you get from that, but multiplied by seven. It felt that amazing. A part of me knew, it just kind of clicked. I wanted a jersey with my name on it, and I wanted to be known for something like all those great hockey players. The day after, my dad signed me up for skating lessons. I played field hockey first, then in high school ice hockey. And now, here I am."

I listened to him with interest. It was amazing hearing him talk about something he loves. I got off of him, turning around and sitting back on him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my smile mirroring his. The curtain was pushed open slightly, a crack of light in the room from the moon.

"I love it when you talk about things you love. You just sound so at peace. I love it."

"I love you. Can I talk about you?" My cheeks flushed and I looked down, taking his hands again and playing with his fingers.

"I love you too." I saw the elastic band on my arm and remembered something.

"Hey, Calum?"

"Mm? What, princess?" The pet name made my heart flutter, and I smiled widely before continuing.

"So, Ashton told me about this trip he'd been planning for all of us, plus my brother and his best friend. I don't really want to go, but it'd be better if you came with?" I asked him hopefully. I could see him considering it.

"What is it during break next week?" He asked. I nodded.

"Alright, sure. Sounds fun."
