"I do."
It had been a whole year since the wonderful day when Caspian had spoken those words to the lovely queen he now called his wife. That year had been peaceful in Narnia, except for the occasional arguments between the three kings. No wars had broken out which kept Peter relaxed.
Lucy and Susan had spent much time together riding, practicing archery, or even just talking. Edmund continued to be the same light-hearted goofball he always was and when occasional disagreements sprouted between Caspian and Peter he became the peacemaker, and sometimes seemed to be the only reasonable one.
All was well in Narnia and time was flying. "Every year seems to go by faster and faster." Mrs. Pevensie used to say to her children while watching them grow up. She was right, times seems to go faster and faster all the time. Before they knew it Susan and Caspian's first wedding anniversary was upon them.
Caspian wanted to do something special, something more than just a private dinner. So, on their anniversary he scheduled for them to leave aboard one of Narnia's smallest ships. It was just big enough for the two of them and easy for Caspian to handle alone. He figured a short trip would be more memorable than the classic fancy dinner most couples have on their anniversary.
They set sail mid-afternoon the day of their anniversary. Susan had packed enough luscious food to feed their whole family! With it she prepared a fancy candlelight dinner for the two of them on the deck of the ship. It was the perfect setting: the two of them, alone, riding the sparkling waters with the sun setting behind them. It was a deep orange and lit the whole sky on fire.
After they had had their fill they cuddled together on the steps watching the last bit of sun fall behind the horizon. "Susan, this past year has been the happiest of my entire life." Caspian told her. He spoke softly, the words like music to her ears. She smiled and nuzzled closer, but didn't say anything in response. Caspian adjusted so he could look at her. "You alright?" He asked. She always seemed to have a sweet remark to his romantic sayings.
He always seemed to know exactly when something was wrong. In some ways Susan didn't like that so much, but at the same time it was the best feeling in the world. "Yes." She lied. "Why do you ask?"
"Nothing." Caspian shook off his worry and kissed her forehead. "Why don't you go on to bed. I'll just check that the ship is sound, then I'll be down." Susan nodded and kissed him slowly before heading down below to the tiny bedroom.

Susan tossed and turned for what must have been nearly an hour before finally drifting off. Do you ever have those dreams that seem so real you later get them confused with real life? Well Susan had a dream that night which was much like that.
She was sitting in a patch of grass in the middle of the forest. Pink and blue wildflowers bloomed all around her and sun poured through the gaps in the clouds. She was clutching her stomach which was in pain, not only in the dream but in reality. When she looked up a radiant golden lion stood before her.
The lion stepped forward and breathed on her softly. It was as if his warm breath had eased the pain away because it was suddenly gone. Then he spoke in his deep voice - soothing, but powerful. "Susan, Daughter of Eve, I have decided now is the time to bless you and your husband with a child." He stated, and breathed on her again. Susan gasped shot up in bed. She knew this wasn't just a dream.
"Caspian! Caspian wake up!" Susan shook him. He sat up, a groggy look in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" He asked placing a hand on her back.
"Nothing's wrong! Everything is perfect." She laughed joyfully.
"Then what, may I ask, made you decide that two in the morning was a good time to wake me up?" He asked grumpily.
Susan brushed away his attitude and told him about the dream. "Aslan just spoke to me through a dream." She began. Her eyes sparkled in excitement and her smile broadcasted her happiness. "He said he is going to bless us with a child!"
"What?" Caspian, now wide awake, exclaimed, bubbling over in laughter. He pulled her into a tight kiss. It was the kind where you have to pull away because you can't help but smile. Caspian cupped her face in his hands tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. He was enveloped by her smile and lost in her shining eyes. He kissed her again.

Susan ran off the ship straight to Lucy, whom she hugged tightly. "Susan what was that for?" Lucy laughed, though she would always happily accept affection from her siblings.
"We have some news to tell you." Caspian announced with excitement in his voice. He grabbed Susan's hand and squeezed it.
"What is it?" Lucy wondered anxiously.
Susan smiled up at Caspian before explaining. "Aslan came to me in a dream last night, and he told me that he is going to bless us with a child."
Happy shouts went up and everyone was hugging each other. "I'm going to be an aunt!" Lucy squealed happily.
"Your kid is going to become the best chess player in all of Narnia, next to me of course." Edmund joked after hugging his sister in congratulations.
"Oh Edmund!" Susan laughed.
The couple beamed brightly, the smiles never fading from their lips. This was perhaps the second happiest days of their lives.
The happy news spread quickly and preparations were already being made. The baby's room was going to be the currently empty bedroom next to Susan and Caspian's. Before the happy couple knew it they were already placing furniture in the room and discussing names. Lucy spent hours helping Susan decorate the nursery and Edmund hunted all the village stores and markets for a chess set with pieces big enough not to be a choking hazard. Peter fashioned a few animals from wood and bought a few stuffed ones. To say Cair Paravel was buzzing with excitement would be an understatement.
