Kabanata 1

"Why is it so cold ba kasi?" I murmur.

Hugging yourself kaya is not nakakatuwa. Like, hello? Ba't ba kasi sobrang lamig naman? They can at least reduce the AC's temperature. 

Masyado namang flineflex na may pambayad sila ng current every month. I rolled my eyes.

"Miss Calla, your mother will arrive any moment." The lady said. She's probably my Mama's assistant.

"Why is she so tagal ba? At anong kelangan niya sa akin? Gosh, she's wasting my time!"

I rolled my eyes again when I did  not hear any response to her. Argh, attitude!

Kinuha ko ang phone ko loob tote bag ko when I heard it rang. The boredom on my face suddenly replaced by a big smile.

"Laurence, baby!" I said when I answered the call.

He chuckled when because of my excitement. "My baby's so excited, ain't she?"

"Of course, I haven't seen you yesterday kaya. It feels like habambuhay."

He had to go to his family at Pampanga yesterday because his grandfather needs to discuss something daw. Sabagay, it's our vacation naman so we have all time in the world to do whatever we want and needs to do.

"I know. Kaya nga ako nandito sa labas ng unit mo. Wanna chill, baby?"

Nanlaki ang mata ko sa sinabi niya. Without hesitation, I grab my bag and stand up. I was about to leave this cold room when the door opens and my mother came in.

Noong una ay nag tataka pa itong naka tingin sa akin. "Where are you going?" Her cold voice lingered on my spine.

Pero hindi 'yun nag tagal. I matched her gaze at me.

"I'll go home na." I said, not even blinking.

"Sit down, Amorett." Well, that's not a favor. That's an obvious command.

"Baby, you're with your Mom? It's okay, I'll just wait for you here." Rinig kong sabi ni Laurence sa kabilang linya.

Okay, I thought I can escape easy. I sigh. "Okay, baby. I'll see you later. Bye, I love you."

"I love you, Calla."

We ended the call and I look at my mother. Jeez, the sight of her makes me sick. I can't even stand a day with her. 

"Sit down." She said.

Wala akong nagawa kundi ang umupo. "Can we make this fast? My boyfriend's waiting for me." I said using my bored voice. 

Sumadal pa ako sa upuan and check for my nails to show her that I am not interested to what ever she wants to say.

"Give her the papers, Jenny." She commanded her assistant.

I smirk. That is what she's good at. Commanding people as if they are her pets and slaves. And I don't get this people too, masyado nilang pinag tsatsagaan ang ugali niya. They can have other jobs, you know. I were them, I wont ever associate myself to Clara Buenaventura.

Lumapit and assistant niya sa akin and handed me a paper.

Certificate of Candidacy.

I smirked, then turns to an unbelievable laugh. 

"Nothing is funny, Calla Amorett."

"What? This is so nakakatawa kaya! So we are here because the election is fast approaching again? What? You need us to go to Ilocos, para mag act as if we are a happy family? Yeah, this is indeed funny." Sagot ko sa kanya.
