SINK OR SWIM!!

(you guys are trying to open a door that might lead you guys to safety) Each of you throw your weight behind the bar . after a long moment you hear a screech of metal and the handwheel turns! "keep going! we're almost there!" said tyler. something inside the door clanks, and swings open to reveal the small airlock and the door on the other side . "cool. so... what do we do now?" asked cory , you stare at the other door, the murky darkness beyond the porthole....and then you step into the airlock. "close the door" i said "do what now!?" said garret "i've got to be the one to go out there, we all know that.so you guys close the door and i'll open the hatch to the lakebed" i said "but the airlock'll flood!" said cody "that's the point" i said "you've gotta be kidding me!, you don't have any equipment! nothing to breathe! nothing to get back in-" before cory could finish. you hear a metallic pounding and turn to see the faces of cultists pressed against the tunnel door's porthole!. "oh no...they're here!" i said. there's a squeal as the cultist's begin turning the handwheel seconds away from unlocking it! "we're out of time! it has to be this way and it has to be me!" i said garret steps forward to grip your shoulder tightly , face solemn "we'll cover you, i can't lose you y/n" said garret "you won't" i said . "be...careful" said coby "sure" i said "we'll kick some butts for you" said ty . tyler backs out of the airlock and puts his hands on the door . you look at all your friends face's for what might be the last time. you give them a shaky smile. "Well...i guess i'll see you on the other side" you said . you stand rigid as the airlock door swings shut with a resounding THUD, leaving you alone "here goes nothing" i said. swallowing hard , you walk to the hatch and spin the handwheel. water forces the hatch open a moment later, streaming into the airlock....

The water is a horrifying pressure on you, threatening to crush the life from your body. gathering your courage you push forward through the doorway and into the lake beyond. you struggle through the water that's thick and slit and plant life, making it impossible to see. you suddenly see something glowing, you push your way forward , and it's gets brighter and brighter. and as you adjust to the glare you see.....jessica's skeleton.

You pull yourself toward jessica's skeleton nailed to the lakebed with weathered spikes. you reach out for the nearest spike...but the second you touch it , a ear rending scream seems to shake the water all around you! "oh no..." you say to yourself. two burning eyes flare in the darkness, streaking towards you like flaming arrows! desperately you wrap both hands around the spike and pull! but it won't budge! as a howling jessica bears down on you! You brace your feet against the lakebed and pull it with all your might! feeling the spike start to shift...

all at once,the spike comes out free! you cringe bracing yourself for the attack you know is seconds away!...but it never comes. you look up to find jessica hovering in front of you, staring at the spike in your hands! tossing the first spike aside, you grab hold of another, tearing it free! jessica watches eerily still, as you drop the second spike. you reach for another, lungs aching for air!! you pull spike after spike! strength ebbing from your body. jessica starts to shift back and fourth as if holding her back!. Finally there's only one spike left , beautifully engraved marlinspike driven through the skeleton's chest, it runes glowing softly . Your hand grips the spike just above the skeleton's own fingers... and with what feels like the last of your strength you tear it free!! Jessica screams!! and pressure of waves slams you back to the craggy lakebed!

tumbling helplessly through the dark, your battered body finally gives in, and the world fades to black around you..........
