The big day finally arrived, the day when everything will end and darken forever, when I’ll forget all and everyone, I’ll become a shadow, by committing suicide...a last cigar smoked at the edge of the cliff, the scent of fresh sea breeze, laid on my back, I imagined the time of my death. The blue shadow falling and spinning from the nearest cliff, the cold gun shining in the sun, the sea’s breakers, the complicated japanese algae embossed on a cloud of golden sand, spirals of blood rising like a flame that grows longer in the sea’s crystal water, the soundtrack of my death being sang to me by the swarming birds...you’re probably wondering why I’m about to kill myself...so let me start over.
My name is Eric, I’m 24, my parents died six years ago in a car crash, I’m the inheritor of a houseon the edge of a cliff, I had everything except a person to share everything with, that someone that woud make my every morning a joy with a simple kiss, someone who would love me, grow old with me and have a family...but that someone was missing.
It was the usual friday, good for a cream coffee and cinnamon on top, it was around eight when I was preparing chips and the laptop, in the living room, waiting for my friend Arnold to go to the mall. Arnold was a well-built guy with brown eyes, around twenty two, we met nine years go in eight grade and afterward in high school where we were desk mates, he was the high school bully, but also a good guy, well-raised, if you spent the time to get to know him, unlike me, the most pretentious guy in the school, as Arnold says, I’m the most pretentious, but that’s no problem. After graduation, came the death of my parents and I was helped by Arnold to get over it, he was always close by, like a brother, even if he’s not family.
Around 8:30, he arrived at my door.
A:You got any cigars?(his first question when he came in)
E:Sure bro, just chill.
A:Just give me one, NOW!
E:Easy buddy, don’t fret, here you go...what happened? That blond again?
A:Bingo! I heard that Alice and the girls are going to the Jar and I don’t know if I should get in on that...
E:Of course dude, no doubt..
The blond, or a. k. a. Alice was the kind of girl born and raised rich, that from fifteen years old was hanging with “coolest” guys in high school, seeing herself as the city’s prom queen... Whatever, the Jar is a corner of sand on the beach surrounded by tall cliffs, where we all gather and party or throw challenges.
A:Dude, don’t you want a relationship, at least a one-night type, if not long-term?
E:No, bro, just forget it, I don’t have time for them...
Albert gases at me laughing and smoking with a long smirk on his face. After five minutes or so of silence, I find a black leather jacket with spikes.
E:Hey look at this cool black leather spiked jacket, and it’s on sale 20% at 50$.
A:So what are you waiting for? A special invite or a better sale? Maybe you’ll have the cash to get it this time!
E:So what was the punch line? Come on, let’s get it!
A:So what’s in it for me?
E:Ha ha, very funny you buffoon, skip it and I’ll get you a pack of cigarettes and a coffee from Starbucks, if you get a move on.
A:Allright! Just let me finish this smoke.
