The Boy and his Chicken

Beginning

        There was once a rooster owned by a very poor family, the family was very hungry and so they were planning to eat and roast the rooster so that they can have their fill. As the father took the rooster and prepare to cook it, his son stoped him and begged that the rooster be spared, as he treated the rooster like a brother since he grew up with it.

        The son then promise that he and the rooster will find something to eat in the forest in thanks to the rooster being spared. And so they went, while his father and mother stayed home hoping that their son would find something to eat. Days passed by and the son and his rooster has yet to find something edible in the forest. a few days passed by and  they came across a big field in the middle of the forest.

        The boy and the rooster then went and search hoping they would find something edible in the field, and then there they found in the center of the field a single crop of golden corn, the corn was so golden that it shimmers and shines throughout the field, and so they took it.

        On there journey back home, they were soo tired and hungry that they were too weak and hungry to proceed. So they decided to rest  for the night, but before they can sleep they were awoken by hunger, so the son then split the single crop of corn into two, he then saves the other half for his parents and the other for them. As the son puts the corn in his mouth he saw his rooster shaking in hunger even though he shared their half evenly. He couldnt bare seeing his beloved rooster in that state so he gave all of his part to his rooster.

        And so the rooster thankfully ate the corn. Morning came and the rooster woke up with the half of the golden corn and a letter tied to his neck. The rooster looked for his dear friend but the son were nowhere to be found. Hours passed by and the rooster kept looking for his dear friend. Eventually the rooster found his way back to their home. The father found his son's rooster wondering about in their backyard,  he took the rooster finding half of a corn and a letter tied to the rooster's neck.

        The father and mother felt worried and unease since they dont know where their son has gone to. The father then read the note that was tied to unto the rooster,

        "Mom, Dad, were sorry that we took so long to find food in the forest, you might be wondering why only my rooster came back, its because i sent him back first while i am still looking for food for us, take good care of my rooster while im gone, i love him very dearly"

        The father then took his son's words and took good care of the rooster while he and his wife still worries for their son. That dawn, they woke up to the rooster's cuckoo, as soon as they open their eyes, they were baffled that there was a bright shimmer outside their backyard.

        The Father then went outside and to his astonishment, he saw a bundle of gold solid eggs laying beside the rooster, he then took the bundle of golden eggs and the rooster inside their home, his wife was surprise to see the reason for the shimmer outside.

        Weeks and months gone by and both the father and the mother were living with unsurmountable riches. Now they live in a big castle and with a big field filled with crops all to themselves. Jhonny's parents were so proud and excited to show that they are now very rich and they can live in a luxurious life, but yet the son hasnt returned. As time flows by, they  became humble king and queen of the land. The father still yerns for his lost son and still has hope finding his son. and so he sent his best soldiers in search for their lost prince. Days and weeks passes by and the boy was yet to be found.

        A couple of year goes by the king and queen had children again. and the family grew bigger. Years gone by and the lost son who is now the lost prince was yet to be found, the rooster still lays golden solid eggs helping the family prosper more,  and was still very much taken care of. The rooster was then made the royal rooster of the kingdom for its contributions to the family.

        One night the rooster woke up from his sleep because of the patting sensation that his dear friend used to do, and to his surprise he saw himself in the lap of his owner little ol Jhonny, hugging him for the first time in years. The whole kingdom rejoiced that night with tears of joy and laughter as the lost prince was found and surprisingly hasnt grown up after all those time. That night it was the happiest of the kingdom since the lost prince returned, the rooster saw the son's mother and father crying with tears of joy and no one was more happier than the rooster.

        Morning came and the whole kingdom was surprised as the beloved royal rooster passed away that morning. That day the king decided that he would name his kingdom and all his land after the name of the rooster that his son named. To this day we still call that place, "Kentucky"
