"Don't worry, they'll love you," my mother said to me for the millionth time in a row.
We were headed for my new school in the new town in the new state that we moved to. So yeah, I was pretty new here. Ever since I was 3 years old, every other year, we moved to a new town in a different state. I was used to not getting attached to anyone or anything because I was always "the new girl". We just moved to Isla Nada, California a week ago from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oklahoma was nice, I met some cool people there, but it was too boring for me. My mom hated it in Oklahoma. We move so much because she likes the excitement of always being somewhere new with different people and new things to try. That's why she never remarried after my dad died. She liked going to places where no one knew her. I adjusted my ponytail so it looked smoother.
"I doubt it," I replied to my mother," I'm not the best at being social. Plus, I'm gonna be gone in two years anyway. So, why does it matter?"
"I want you to make some friends," she answered,"We're going to stay here the whole time you're in high school. Then you can go to whatever college you want to and I'll keep moving around."
"Really?" I asked," You'll really stay here for four years?"
"Yeah," she said," I think that it's the least I could do. Plus it would probably be too hard on both of us to move right before your junior year."
"Thanks, Mom," I said, and for the first time in a long time, I meant it.
"Well, here we are," my mom said sweeping her hand in a grand gesture," Welcome to Isla Nada High School."
"Great," I said sarcastically," I can't wait."
I got out of my mom's Mustang and walked through the front doors. My first impression of the school was ,"Wow". This place was huge. It had five floors, the seniors got the top one to themselves. My first class was Algebra II, classroom D3. The floors were A-E, and then the classrooms were numbers. The first floor was for English, the second for History, Arts, and Computers, the third was for Foreign Languages, and the fourth was for Math and Science. Athletics were in another building and they also had football, baseball, and soccer fields, tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, and a swimming pool. This place had it all! I loved it here. I found my seat right before the bell rang. My teacher, Miss Alvarez, walked to the front of the room. She looked like a model with her long dark brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, and tan skin. I looked like a peasent compared to her with my plain blonde hair a green eyes.
"I hear we have a new student with us today," she announced," Will you please come up here and introduce yourself?"
I walked up to the front of the room with major butterflies in my stomach. I turned and felt better once I saw everyone smiling kindly at me. I smiled back.
"Hi," I said shyly," My name is Lizzie Sommers. And I am very happy to meet you."
"Hi Lizzie!" everyone replied.
I felt the butterflies in my stomach stop fluttering, and I knew I was going to like this class. But would I like the other ones?
