Chapter 2

Fiancee

"I do?" I asked softly. Umiwas siya ng tingin at bumuntong hininga. Hindi na rin naman siya nagsalita pagkatapos noon kaya tumahimik nalang din ako. I checked my watch and realized it was still 10pm.

"You have something else to do?" He broke the silence.

"No. I---I just came from our family dinner." Sagot ko kahit hindi niya naman tinatanong. Baka mamaya nito alam niya na pati kung saan ako nakatira.

"I see. How's it?" Tanong niya pa.

"The usual." I said, almost laughing. He looked at me with brows furrowed. I gently removed my heels and placed it beside me so I can feel the rocks more. Napangiwi ako ng makitang namula ang paa ko dahil sa suot.

"What's the usual?" He asked again, eyeing my every move.

"The usual "do these, do that" "I'm disappointed of you" you know some sort." Saad ko. We went silent after that. I could hear the soft voices of people talking, the gentle breeze of the wind, and the calm waves of the sea in front.

It was so peaceful that I lose track of time. Hindi ko namalayan na alas onse na pala dahil nagsimula ng guminaw, naka off shoulder pa ako.

"Hey, I should get going now. It was nice talking to you, Shawn." Paalam ko matapos maisuot ulit ang heels. Umayos ako ng tayo at humarap sa kanya.

"How will you go home?" He asked, his voice kind of hopeful.

"Oh I brought my car, don't worry." Sagot ko ng nakangiti. He bit his upper lip and nodded.

"Let's go." He declared then stood up and started to walk slowly.

Sumunod ako sa kanya at napansing may iilan pang tumitingin sa kanya. Well, the guy obviously has the looks and the appeal, I can't blame them. He turned to look at me when we reached the parking, probably asking where my car is. Naglakad nalang ako patungo sa aking itim na BMW na naka park sa gilid ng isang itim na lexus.

"I will see you again. Maybe. Soon." I finally said before opening the driver's seat. I went inside and opened the window so I can still see him. He just nodded and gave me a small wave.

"Drive safely." He said before I closed my windows again and started the engine.

I looked at the rearview mirror and saw him getting inside the black lexus parked just near mine. I bit my lower lip and went on driving. So that was his ride.

The next morning I woke up with messages from Pia asking if I was fine. Caleb also called few times which I missed. I rolled my eyes when I read his messages. He wanted us to go on a date, which I clearly declined making Pia an excuse. As much as I can, ayoko muna siyang makita, napipikon ako sa pagmumukha niya. I got up and make my morning coffee before doing some home workouts, I didn't have the energy to go out and hit the gym. I showered after and was surprised when I heard the doorbell.

"Thank God." Banggit ko ng makita ang pagmumukha ni Pia.

For a second I really thought it would be Caleb or my parents, then I realized my family haven't visited me here since I moved out from our house, and I doubt if they even knew where my condo unit was. I didn't tell Caleb about my address too, not that I want to.

"Anong mukha yan?" Bungad ni Pia pagkapasok.

"Maganda." Walang hiya kong sagot at isinara ang pinto.

She went straight to the countertop and placed the box of cake and tow boxes of Pizza she brought, pati isang paper bag ng hindi ko alam kung ano. I raised a brow and crossed my arms while looking at her. She just smirked and got two goblet from the cupboard.
