Skylor's pov

"Wrong. Wrong again. Wrong, wrong, wrong." Continued Garmadon. "I'm telling you Mr. Garmadon. I have a partner picked out already." I pleaded while following him into his office frantically. "Please Mr. Garmadon. If you can just let me bring him here sometime. I'm sure you'll love him." I begged with my hands in a prayer motion and shaking.

"Bring him tomorrow Sky. But —" he started as I was about to jump up and celebrate. "He has to be good or I debunk him." Garmadon threatened. I immediately agreed and ran out of the building jumping up and down excitedly. Fumbling through my purse, I took a grasp on my phone and quickly typed Kai's number up and waited for him to pick up. On the third ring he finally answered and I got ready to deliver the exciting news.

"Sky? What's up?" He asked bewildered. I bit my lip nervously and answered. "My boss just gave you the okay to come and rehearse a practice with me!" I squealed. It almost sounded like he spit out whatever he was drinking. "WHAT?! That's amazing!" He yelled through the phone excitedly. "Can I come talk to you in person?" I asked, feeling an aching pain in my heart to see my friend again. "Uh yeah I'm pretty sure I'm free tonight." Kai confirmed and I jumped up and down screaming 'yes' without audio.

"See you in a few!" I assured Kai excitedly.
"Kay. See ya!" He replied back and hung up. I hopped in my car enthusiastically and backed out of the parking lot a little too quickly. Turning on my favorite song (DJ got us fallin' in love by usher), I drove through the old country streets and straight to the city's lights and sounds. It being 9:00 at night meant me having to turn on my headlights. I pulled into the city streets remembering the place I always went to with Kai when we met up. I pulled up into the parking lot for the small coffee shop and closed my door with a bang.

The smell of fresh coffee beans and cake filled my nostrils pleasantly and I half walked/ half skipped up to the entrance and opened the door which dinged in response to my entrance. The small shop was filled with only a couple and my best friend. Running up gladly to him, I pulled Kai into a huge hug. "Hey buttercup." He chuckled while playing with my hair. "Hey hothead. How's your job going here?" I asked while sitting down on the opposite side of where he was.

"Terrible. I actually quit my current one and started working here again just two days ago." Kai said while sipping his usual spicy Frappuccino. "Again? Are you sure it wasn't the boss that fired you this time?" I asked while giggling at his reaction. "Uh — hey do you want a coffee or something?" He asked trying to change the subject. "Trying to change the subject again huh? And yes I'll take my usual." I giggle as Kai scoffed and paced back to get me my usual butterscotch latte. Now it might sound gross but it actually tasted really good. It also reminded me of the butterbeer from this one book series I read with Kai when we were younger about wizards and stuff.

Kai came out with not only my usual but with something extra. Sitting down at the table with me, he slid me my latte and the extra bag to me and I stopped them while smiling at my friend for knowing what I loved to order. "What's this?" I asked motioning to the small bag sitting next to my latte. "Open it." Kai chuckled. I glanced at him curiously and slipped the bag open revealing my favorite lemon bread with a note on top. "Read it." Kai said with his chin on his right hand. I smirked at him and took the note out.

Eat to the end <3

"Kai what is this?" I asked again and he just motioned for me to eat the bread. "Seriously?" I questioned. "Just eat it you jerk." Kai laughed and I joined in.

After eating most of it

I was almost finished when I felt something metal clink beneath my teeth. I held my mouth and took a glance at Kai who just motioned for me to continue. I ate around the area to find a strand of golden metal hanging out. I gasped and pulled it out gingerly to find a gold necklace with a musical note on the end with small diamonds inside.
